South Coast Royal Can't see what ascotgunner was going on about.
All top clubs have plastic fans but genuine Liverpool fans won't be saying what the team WILL do this season-they will let the team do the talking on the pitch whereas many fans of perpetual losers like Arsenal go on and on about what the team will do and it never happens.

I think this season will be less of a cake walk for Liverpool although I still fancy them to be the winners but some of the others like Spurs won't be such a pushover this time and the league as a whole may well be tighter as not only Arsenal but a lot of the others have spent big this Summer.

As for last night's game clinical finishing was the difference in a game that was Newcastle's cup final.
I did a bit of totting up of the money spent by Newcastle for their current squad and it comes to around half a billion pounds-their spending is at the Chelsea/Man Utd levels and with or without Isak there should be no excuses if they fail to make the top 4 and the idea that Saint Eddie hasn't been given sufficient transfer funds is a nonsense.

Most Liverpool fans I know expect to challenge in the League and CL but certainly don't expect to win either.

I do think top 4 will be a big achievement for Newcastle though regardless of how much they've spent. I'd put Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea ahead of them.

Today for a change we are in agreement.

I don't "expect" Liverpool to win the league as some kind of divine right but I do think and hope that they will-their attacking options are already probably the best around and may even be enhanced by the end of the window.

Like you, I would include Spurs this season because of the excellent manager and the likelihood that the two centre-backs will play together more this season than last.

Sanguine I think Slot was spot on after the game. If Liverpool can't sort out their leaky defence they won't get near the title. Can't rely on scoring 3 or 4 every week.

Gravenbech suspended for the first game
Macca not fit enough yet (missed the Newcastle game)
Two new full-backs being bedded in
Konate disrupted by the Guehi speculation

All of these are reasons (or excuses) for the less than tight defence in these early games and we will see how things progress over the coming weeks.
A valuable 6 points already in the bag.

In Arne we trust (as they say).

How the oxf*rd does he look 66
How the oxf*rd is he playing for Liverpool u21’s
Why the oxf*rd is he playing for Liverpool u21’s

Hard to believe he's barely a year and a bit older than Virgil Van Dijk. How is he only 36? Feels like a player of a totally different era.

He's a coach for Liverpool Under 21s and has registered as a player for the last few seasons. I believe Under 21 sides can field a small number of over age players. Why he is playing though, I've no idea.

Apparently Spearing was diagnosed with Addison’s disease a few years ago.

Think you've been pretty poor this season, but you're doing the thing that wins titles i.e. winning when you haven't turned up

If I was a coach of Liverpool U21s I think I'd sub myself on every now and then too.

They have played 2 of last season's top clubs in their 3 fixtures and a Bournemouth side that I reckon will be pushing for a top 8 position this season and now have 9 points out of 9.
As you say, not necessarily playing well but still winning matches is what champions do

They've already won the league. All of their challengers were crap last year and none have improved in their crapness.
