Just watching Redmen TV, pretty funny watching them try to find a formation from the announced team.

They can't figure it out...who plays RB, and where does Efitike fit in. Loads of talent, difficult to fit everyone in

I'd guess at 4-3-3 with two in the pivot and shoehorn Efitike in RW

Was a 442.

In fact I think circumstance is going to help Slot out now. Frimpong has done a hammy and so Bradley will come into the back four in which he is more suited. Isak will probably miss a couple of games with his groin - so Slot doesn't have to make an awkward decision on Salah and can play him more centrally at Brentford.

Five goals, two assists for Wirtz and Ekitike back in the team and scoring again.

Slot (flop?) really has lost it. In the cup v Palace he dumped all the under performing big hitters leaving a bench full of inexperienced teenagers and then after the game he was moaning that his squad was too small due to injuries and unlike City and Arse he only had a bunch of teenagers on the bench despite all the big names he’s obviously rested for their next debacle against Villa on Saturday.

Think he’s starting to stretch Liverpool fan’s patience too, seems things are never his fault. Can’t imagine what FSG are making of him after the money spent and extra positive comments in the summer on building a team to dominate domestically

I think any notion that Slot is a flop is a pretty silly one. He won just Liverpool's second title in 35 years, last season.

No doubt that the new signings haven't worked yet. And he basically threw the Carabao Cup tie for the sake of his first XI being fresh for Villa, Real and City in the next ten days. Not what FSG would have envisaged, I'm sure. But also not unprecedented.

Squad is talented but is learning to play together. They lost a lot of experience as a squad unit in Nunez, Diaz, Jota and Trent.

Football is an odd game of momentum. They kept winning at the start of the season. Now they keep losing. There's probably an argument that but for those two late goals conceded at Palace and Chelsea, they probably win more of the subsequent matches too.

There's probably also an argument to say that but for a couple of winners late into injury time in Aug / Sept they could be hovering just above the relegation zone.

Much has been written and verbalised about Liverpool's woes over the past couple of weeks and there is probably no single answer why things haven't worked out.

I think Slot , albeit expressed in a rather moany way , was making the point that Liverpool don't have 22 players currently capable and fit enough to be regarded as first-teamers when compared to Arsenal and Chelsea.
The first 15 or so are very much good enough but there is no longer an Elliott or a Quansah to step in for "lesser" games such as the FA Cup or League Cup.
It has even been suggested in some quarters that Slot didn't want the few big money signings and would have preferred the money to have been spread more widely to bring in more recruits.

Palace fielded almost a first team on Tuesday whereas Liverpool decided to start with players who had no first team experience at all in some cases and very little experience for others as well as having even more untried on the bench and the bookies even pushed out their price from 11/10 to 2/1 which is unheard of for Liverpool playing at home against anybody.

Rather than put out weakened teams I wish the bigger clubs would find a way to withdraw from the cup competitions if they don't want to take part or at least regarding the FA Cup the FA might make the ultimate prize to be more money and/or a place in the Champs League for the winner.
IIRC the League Cup was originally intended as a competition for clubs outside of the top division and has become an inconvenience not only for Liverpool but also to many of the other Premier League clubs.

Interesting games for Liverpool coming up v Villa, Real Madrid and City and a couple of wins from those games might well prompt a "what were people worrying about?"
Only losing all three would justify use of the word "crisis".

I also think Jota's death has had a big impact on the squad. Not really surprised this season has gone this way.

Jota’s death must have some effect but they weren’t exactly convincing at the back end of last season.

A lot of Liverpool fans do seem to struggle to admit just how much they miss Alexander-Arnold. In that set up he was like having a player and a half . The link with Saleh, the ability to switch play instantly and his overall passing range and ability.

Oddly though given how his supposed defensive frailties are always highlighted, they almost miss him more in that capacity. His ability to step into midfield and intercept the ball or cut out passing lanes is often overlooked because the obsession was he wasn’t always the best as a one-one right back. Liverpool prospered without the need for a proper “6” because they had Trent. Now teams get at the centre halves way too easily and the ageing VVD is having to actually defend a lot more.

2025 has been utter **** for Liverpool they’ve essentially been “on the beach” since February, tapering off in league form in both performances and results and they’ve just not kicked on.

TAA offered loads in terms of his passing range but as we all know is not all that as a defender. I would say they are missing him because Liverpool seem utterly clueless in how to move between the lines effectively since he went (could be hilarious on Tuesday when he rocks up with Madrid (if he gets a game at all as he doesn’t seem to be liked there much) but only as a defender in the terms that Slot does not want to play with wing backs yet the club went out and bought 2 in the summer  and they’re otherwise left with Bradley’s inexperience.

8 minutes injury time followed by the standard ******** finish being lined up, well at least Richardson should be able to experience the issues first hand I suppose.

Now dreading another half hour of this.

And Richardson booked too
