Ian RoyalPieEaterIan Royal Gylfi made 17 appearances out of the 23 games under Rodgers and started 14 of them. Of all the criticisms you can throw Rodgers way (and I'm far from a fan), making out he didn't break Gylfi into the team is not one of them. He did.
How many of those was he played in a 4 man midfield?
The guy was clueless how to utilise the talent he had.
I thought he only played him a couple of times then dropped him?

Hoop Blah There's some pretty serious re-writing of history going on here too. It seems to me that a few on here seem to think that McDermott taking over saw a sudden switch in role for Sigurdsson and an up turn in his fortunes.
The facts are that McDermott continued to play 4-4-2 quite a lot, with Sigurdsson out wide and two upfront, for quite some time. Like Rodgers he seemed to feel that the players around him, or perhaps Sigurdsson's inexperience/physical fragility meant the team wasn't always best places to have Sigurdsson as the heart of a 4-5-1 formation.

Snowball Just checking the official lineups but Rodgers selected 433 or 442 diamond

He played a number of formations during his time, possibly one of his mistakes to be fair, and I don't think it was just restricted to the two above, but that's splitting hairs a bit.
I wasn't saying your stats were re-writing history by the way. There was a short spell where Sigurdsson was injured under McDermott (possibly because he wasn't being eased in and protected as much as he was under Rodgers?). The notion that McDermott suddenly moved Sigurdsson into a new position that Rodgers hadn't tried and got so much more out of him just isn't what happened.

blueroyals Sadly if he doesn't sign for Swansea he will sign for Liverpool. There is no hope of him coming to Reading. If he signs for us I'll get his name tattoo'd on my cock.
