Didn't Charlie Adam go to Liverpool from Blackpool for over £10m?

Liverpool have first refusal on Gylfi. Reading have offered the exact if not similar to what terms Swansea offer and they are acceptable for Sigurdsson. However Gylfi and his agent plus daddy Sig are holding out to see if Liverpool show their hand. If they do not i can see no reason why Sigurdsson won't re-sign at Reading but if they do - as we've all agreed there really is only one outcome. The ball is firmly in Liverpool's court but this won't be resolved quickly; Rodgers will browse knowing that Gylfi may well wait. Don't expect a quick wrap up (my opinion).

How do you know this Tom, I mean that as a sincere question, not a "how do you know that, PROVE IT!"

Generally a good idea to clarify yourself around here!

I have a VERY good source who has given me info on the Roberts deal before (see that thread) and also the possible Keith Andrews deal in January.

The same source who has told me we are lined up for a friendly with Brighton, which i posted in the preseason thread and now their forum are discussing it and know the date.

Friday's Legacy knows where my source is from as do a few others but i have NO reason to doubt this at all with their track record.

Not at all. I hate the phrase 'In The Know'. What is far more accurate is that someone who is 'in the know' has passed information on to me. They're the ones in the know and i'm sharing information i believe to be true and on past record looks to be true. Completely up to you lot whether to believe it.

Thanks for the info Tom. I have no reason to doubt you so believe what you say is in good faith just as I do with other posters.

The only thing that puzzles me slightly is your first sentence where you say Liverpool have first refusal on Gylfi. I can't see why he would have a clause in his contract referring to Liverpool as Rodgers has only just gone there. The rest of your statement makes perfect sense and I think he will end up at Liverpool.

He means Gylfi wants to go to Liverpool, so if they bid for him, they'll get him.

From what i've been told its not a written agreement as such, it's just what Gylfi and his agent have decided - in short: he will not make a decision on Reading's offer until Liverpool show what they have to offer and if they do, he's theirs.

You could say that about just about any player if it comes down to playing for either Reading or Liverpool.....

You could, but there aren't many players who have come to some sort of pre-contract agreement with Swansea FC only to see one of the major reasons for their signing move to Liverpool FC and subsequently indicate that they may be interested in signing said player for Liverpool FC.

As I said before, I can see major obstacles in the way of Liverpool signing Gylfi - i.e. the number of midfielders they already have on the books and the wages they are being paid.

Might be wrong but I would expect Rodgers to have been told, "sell before you buy". And that ain't going to be a doddle.

If Gylfi comes back from holiday without any positive move from Liverpool he may just want to get settled and take the offer from RFC. It has a helluva lot going for it.

We'll see, but I can't personally see Rodgers would have taken a job with effectively no transfer kitty.
