BR2
Victor Meldrew Pompey at 5/2 represents great value.
They may not win but that sort of price at home to a team like Fulham is about the price somebody like Walsall or Brighton would be.
FA Cup distraction or not it is a tremendous price for the team that could save us from relegation.
I also think that Blackburn 4/6 with a goal start at Birmingham is great value.
If these two bets come up and we do no worse than a draw at Derby we are saved.

Looked at now in the cold light of day what useless suggestions born out of a few moments of RTGism-I'm glad this season is now over and to help people save money (and back something else) I can let you know that I have backed Spain for The Euros.

Now a bit of holding breath for tonight's game but have laid some back on Germany to make sure that I do win.
I do hope that Spain win to show everybody that the passing game can also be a winning game and power is not everything.

I've just wacked £15 e/w on Swansea at 40-1 to win the c'ship. Might sound like a waste, but I got hull e/w at 80-1 last season and Sunderland to win at 33-1 the year before!

They played some really good stuff last season and have a bright young manager who believes in the passing game.
Bristol City came very close last season after promotion so why not Swansea?
I might back them on the handicap rather than outright.

Promoted teams always pose good value with the "unknown" factor and generally having that winning momentum. The Racing Post in it's Football season pull out got some excellent predictions, particularly in the Championship, League 1's and 2 so I'll be interested to see who've they've got down as good value bets.

I'm going to pick the same 3 teams, one from the Prem, one from the Championship and one from League One, every week in the 08/09 season and they will always be my weekly treble.

So far I'm thinking Portsmouth (they have Little so will win a few) or perhaps Chelsea (always win), Reading (who knows) or QPR (lots of investment), Swindon (Simon Cox will destroy this division) or Leeds (no doubt will finish in the top 4).

I invite others to do the same, 3 teams from 3 different divisions and stick to them every week. Can be for fun or actual money bets but we can follow everyone elses success or failure over the season..

Not a bad idea, might do this just for fun with 50p a week. I'd need to look at better value than sides like Chelsea though - Spurs or Villa perhaps.

I'll see what happens in the transfer market first.

How about starting a 2008/2009 thread?

Spurs won 11 games last season. I would not choose Spurs. Especially with Modric up front, who I think is going to prove an equally poor signing as Darren Bent, and the possible loss of Keane.

I think 3 teams from any division, Premiership to Div 2. Anyone want to include Conference as an option?

Also, for midweek fixtures, if your 3 teams feature its upto you to play or not.

Trebles can also be done over separate days eg: weekend coupon is Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon
midweek coupon is Tues, Wed, Thurs

Can be mixed up between domestic and cup fixtures if you decide to bet.

So Portsmouth in the UEFA Cup, Reading in the Championship, and Swindon in the LDV could all feature on a midweek coupon = treble opportunity if they are your teams.

Thoughts?

Yay!

Liverpool at 4/5 to beat sunderland is a great start to the season.

My lucky 15 this season is thus:

Chelsea 9/4
Derby 14's
Leicester 11/2
Wycombe 14's

I've also had two singles on derby and Leicester.

I'm going for a punt on Barnsley to beat QPR at 5/1. ST holder has said that the Hoops have been shambolic in pre season and they are worth a punt against
