Ian Royal My only concern with all this talk of Sig, Pog and Rho is that it seems to be that we're nearly exclusively focusing on attackers. Now obviously upfront was our weakest position last season and needs some work... But we do need some quality in for defence and probably midfield too IMO.

Now obviously goalscorers are always going to be the big and exciting names that get focused on. But I do hope we're also looking to signing other areas as well.

Chill out. You will get your top defender and a central midfielder. Can I remind you that there is still 2 months to go till kick off.

Can we agree to some ort of troll amnesty on this board? All the conflicting sources, blatant lies and false promises are making me start to doubt everything and hate everyone. I'm starting to think my cats only spend time with me because they want food.

Please. You're tearing me apart:

Can someone ITK know give me an indication of how close we are to meltdown please?

I've a number of meetings schedule for this afternoon - it would be a terrible shame to miss it.

I wouldn't cancel any meetings. Might want to clear your schedule next week though.

I'm perfectly chilled. It's my only concern and its a very minor one at this stage.

Liverpool's move for Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim has stalled. QPR are interested.

This had better be a good, proper meltdown, not one of your slight hiccups instead.

It's not bullshit. Technically the deal with Liverpool is stalling. He had the opportunity last week to sign but opted to talk to other interested parties and one of which I can absolutely confirm was and still is us. Personally and unfortunately I believe he will head towards Mersyside however I do know he is considering a move back to Reading. From his point of view it's heart vs head. Discussions are still ongoing and the only person who knows which way it will swing is Gylfi himself. With that said a decision will be made next week. I know that Spurs have had a look but as of yet there are only two clubs looking as front runners. Trust me when I say this but this saga will come to an end very soon and it truly is in the balance.

Lots of stuff from expectant (rattled) Liverpool fans saying he's being unveilled for them tomorrow - coming from some twitter reports.

Sources from Iceland say he's flying home in the morning. No deal signed yet with any club. Has spoken to McDermott (beginning of week) and AZ since (still believe this was 'phone only). I'm still sure those saying we're in pole position are gettin a bit ahead of themselves but with Pog in, and Zingarevich speaking to him in the Russia training camp, and Zingarevich's relentless persuit of Gylfi on McD/Hammond's behalf, looking to sell his vision, no matter what happens here we come out of this deal well and Zingarevich is showing exactly the right sign of intent. He's giving the manager 100% backing, letting him and Hammond pick the players then lending his weight where he can to get them through the door.

As a club operating with no fixed budget, simply a 'right player for the right price' and 'dont destroy the wage budget' we are in a great position and McDermott is frugal enough to know where to push it and where to leave things, like the Chris Gunter bid.

Pog - effectively self financing - is a great example. No fee, wages around £35k p/w when bonuses are included (contacts are complex, that's probably what it'll work out at, but with all clauses having sub clauses you'll never get exact detail) if we go down and sold him the following January (as it stands McD has assurances from Zingarevich that he has a minimum of 18 months - no matter what happens this season his job is safe. If we go down we need to be competitive next season) that's approximately £2.25m spent, plus the signing on fee, we could recoup at least most of that as a transfer fee. if we stay up then he's already worth more than the £6m life of the contract. No risk really.

How exciting...............

With Sigurdsson, like you say, people are getting ahead of themselves. Liverpool interested and then you have, Swansea, Man U and now QPR showing interest. Saw some stuff on Twitter regarding him having a medical at Spurs today. I had previously heard Gylfi linked with Tottenham.

I understand that Gylfi has been in London since he arrived back in UK this week anyway.

A director at Hoffenheim has stated that a move to Liverpool is complicated due to the fee. Maybe you know more about that Maffff?

Now he's off to Iceland? Maybe to discuss with family to see what they think or gather all thoughts after talking to carious clubs maybe? He's certainley had a busy 3 weeks flying about. As we have heard he's been given extended leave too.
