Need to go a very long way to see 2 goals of that quality from the same player in the same game. That it was against Chelsea makes it all the sweeter.

ha ha

Can't decide between Cisse's and Crouch's. cmonurz (welcome back btw) has a good point about their relative direction when they got the ball and Crouch's involved control whereas Cisse's is just a strike. What a strike though, not seen a goal like that before.

Suarez's is a distant third

Anyone that has ever played football - to hit a ball with the outside of your boot, and get it to swerve like that in to the top corner of the net is fcuking hard to do. Although Crouch's was superb too, he only had to hit it straight (he turned to face the way he wanted it to go) whereas Cisses was facing more or less straight and had to hit it right.

Loved Drogba's reaction

Couches control wasn't exactly difficult.
And he had the natural shape to hook the ball into the net.

Cisse was actually facing the touchline and which made it even harder to aim the shot at such an angle. I've never ever seen a goal like Cisse's before. The swerve is incredible and Im certain he meant to place it exactly where it went. Couches was defiaNtly more speculative and the sort of goal that no doubt flies in once every Sunday morning on some park pitch.

Also worth noting the goalkeepers position. Hart off his line and Cech firmly on it leaving even less mArgin for error.

Not true.

When Crouch controls the ball he is facing the linesman, his body is turning as he hits the volley.

And if you watch both goals, the starting position of the keepers, about a yard off their line, is about the same.

:| He ran straight onto the ball from Ameobi's flick on :?:

It's a great strike and he clearly meant to cut across the ball to get the swerve. But I'm not sure even he knew quite how well it would end up.

His body movement is twisting round to face the way he wants to hit it........not saying it wasn't a good goal, but he hit it with his laces and it went straight - Cisse hit it with the outside of his boot and it swerved into the far corner, over the keepers head.

He was still facing the touchline though

So you've just posted a picture proving he was facing the touchline

You're not thinking of the sideline, are you?

I was checking you knew what you were saying?

Fine he's not facing directly at goal but when he moves towards the ball he is facing in the correct direction (i.e. the touchline AND goal)

Edited for clarity.

Listen we're splitting hairs here. It's a GREAT strike, but he did essentially run onto a ball, he didn't change direction as per Crouch.

No he's not, maybe if he was shaping to hit it with his left foot but his right foot is no way near at the correct angle to shoot at goal with the laces - hence why he had to use the outside of his boot

Cisse's is much harder to do, and anyone that has played a decent amount of football will know that, plus it looks better. Also, how the hell are people saying Suarez would come 3rd when Hudson did exactly the same but about 20 yrd further back...
