Whether you cheer or not is up to you, obviously.

Personally I'd rather watch a new guard struggle than a re-run of every tournament post 1996.

Who'd have thought a few weeks ago, we would be one of the best 8 teams in Europe.

I probably will but it will at least give us a reason to "start again"...

Wasn't that the last World Cup?

Why give them another chance?

Because you can't just expect these young players to perform on the big stage, with no build up or preparation .....I dont disagree that we need to rebuild but it should have been done straight after the WC2010 - THATS when Cappello should have been sacked.

How do you propose they get the build up and preparation without playing?

Total games this season.
John Terry - 34 appearances
Rio Ferdinand - 28 appearances
Gary Cahill - 33 appearances
Chris Smalling - 29 appearances
Joleon Lescott - 36 appearances

I'm struggling to see how Smalling, Cahill, or Lescott as another example are any less prepared this season than Terry or Ferdinand in the amount they've played. If you're just talking about how many times they've been capped, well it's got to happen sooner or later, why put it off until the next qualifying tournament when you can use them now?

I am sure it will be the same when Tabb scores.

Pathetic you say, not really is it.

He is a striker. Supposedly world class and valued at 50 million. Comparing him to Tabb is just LOLworthy. Torres should be doing this week in, week out with zero fuss.

But he hasn't, so when he finally does the reaction is justified.

1541 minutes between goals and even then he can only score against a team struggling in the division below

I can understand the justification, but it's still pathetic to be relieved your £50 million striker has scored a goal.

Agree with this, thought it was good to see the rest of the team genuinely pleased for him after the stick he's (deservedly) got. Excellent game from him today though even if it was against Leicester.

Deary me. One scuffed finish that went in at a snail's pace and a header that went about two foot wide of leaden-footed Schmeichel.

Clearly he's back to his best.

Goals are goals. It's not like he celebrated as if they were anything other than strikes against a lower tier side.

fwiw as a neutral I really hope Torres gets back in to form as he was outstanding at Liverpool and the PL will be a better place with a fully functioning Fernando.

So if he hadn't scored against Leicester people would have knocked him.

He's scores two goals against Leicester and people are still knocking him.

Much that I despise chelsea and everything that they represent in the modern game, credit has to be given to Torres. Scored 2 and laid on 2. So it was only Leicester but maybe it could be the jump start that his career desperately needs.

Yes, 1 goal.

Torres scored 2 and got 2 assists.

Stoke slightly stronger opposition than Leicester and a massive chortle at comparing Downing to Torres
