Rooney has proved to be a waste of space in major tournaments for the last 10 years, I see no logical reason to assume he'll be anything other than a waste of space this time around.

I would welcome his absence from the squad - it will give someone else a chance who might one day make a difference, and it sure as hell won't make any difference to our chances of winning the thing.
