Football manager Joey Barton allegedly grabbed his wife by the throat and kicked her in the head in a drunken row

 Doesn't seem the type

How people keep employing that thug, I have no idea. Was always going to happen sooner or later.

Are they still together ?
I think the key issue here is that they BOTH drank a number of bottles of wine.

I have great sympathy with the police when it comes to "domestics" as so often when the people sober up charges get dropped.

Remember also the case of Caroline Flack where her bloke phoned the police after being attacked-it surely takes a really serious situation for a bloke to ask for help (assuming all blokes to be macho).

I have great sympathy with the victims of domestic violence.

I mean, it's so out of character for him, isn't it??? :|The bloke's a piece of shit and deserves locking up.

Totally agree on domestic violence.
This case however just shows up once again what happens when people get pissed-drink, as ever in our country where we are renowned for not being able to control ourselves, is the source of so many ills.

Incidentally once again with these cases it appears that the couple are all lovey-dovey again and she tried to withdraw her complaint.
As I said, I have great sympathy with the police because time and again ( for so many reasons) charges are withdrawn and the under resourced police force has wasted its time and usually because of f*****g drink.

Of FFS SCR, Barton has a long history of this sort of thing where alcohol absolutely isnt a factor. The bloke's a thug, pure and simple.

Regardless, being pissed isn't an excuse.

Have you ever felt the inclination to kick the missus in the head after a few drinks?

And being all lovey dovey after the fact suggests nothing other than Its a common indicator of a coercive and controlling relationship, which again, wouldn't come as a massive suprise given Barton's past behaviour and attitude.

I'm not trying to defend the Evertonian thug-he was very, very lucky to get such a short prison sentence when that lad died in Liverpool.
.
My comments were of a wider nature where I am aware that police are reluctant to get involved with "domestics" because when the two parties sober up ( or lose their anger) they want to forget the trouble they have caused.
Because of this reluctance I suspect some poor women have suffered more than they ever should.

We are on the same page here and there is no argument from me.

And let's not forget it clearly runs in his family, what with his brother and cousin doing life in prison for a racist axe murder

Married Everton star who was arrested by Police last year on suspicion of Child Sex Offences has his bail extended until July. That will mark a year since he was originally arrested.

Lee Hughes, ex West brom and car crash murderer, has retired today

When reading this 2 things came to mind:

1) had no oxf*rd idea he was still playing
2) he should have done WAAAAAY more time

Police 'source' says that a charging decision on Mason Greenwood's rape allegations is 'imminent'.

Man already convicted, faces further prison time...

https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/premier-lea ... paign=feed

Steven King received one of the longest sentences ever given for piracy-related crimes, jailed for seven years and four months for being part of the 'Dreambox' operation, selling pirate boxes that enabled football fans to watch Premier League games for free. He's now been given three months to pay back the c. £1m he made from selling those boxes, or his sentence will be increase by another six years and eight months, taking his time inside to 14 years.

But if you kill someone when you're behind the wheel of a car you've got a decent chance of avoiding any prison time and if you pull out the exceptional hardship bollocks you'll probably escape a driving ban too.
