Hoop Blah
Royal Rother Another way to look at it is that he's spent all these years slowly working his way up the managerial ladder and now he's able to work with some of the best players in the world.

Why give that all up?

Because, as he's said in the past, managing your national team is the ultimate job.

Clubs come and go and I'm sure he's professed his love for all his clubs along the way, but there's an opportunity with England to be more reverred on a national scale than any club job can reward him with. It's the ultimate challenge really.

Ok, I do understand that but could you just acknowledge my little joke?

Why is Alex Ferguson on the poll and not Roy Hodgson? I'd be happy with Roy as it happens - he's English so that'll settle the fools who think that'll make the difference between winning the Euros or not but he's eloquent, intelligent, has got international experience and isn't a total tool.

I don't think anyone with a cell in their brain believes an Englishman in charge will win us the Euros.

Therefore, unfortunately, discounting 42.7% of English football fans.

Media reporting there is a clause in Redknapp's contract about leaving to manage elsewhere, compensation decreases as the contract runs down. The FA would have to pay Spurs £10M if they wanted Saggy Harry right now

Think it will come down to when the squad names need to be submitted to UEFA for the Euros. If that has to happen before the end of April then I would expect 'arry to leave Spurs by the end of March (they seem to have 3rd place more or less sown up anyway).

Depends on if they'd call in that level of compensation for the England job, which I'm sure they've said in the past they wouldn't stand in his way for.

The compensation would probably have been included with other clubs in mind.

It'll be Harry and rightfully so. Not that he will have more success than Capello or any of his other predecessors did seeing that Team England is as a dysfunctional group players as it gets and the FA is far too meddlesome in team affairs.

I'd put early money on Mourinho for the new Spurs manager if/when Harry takes over the national team.

They are?

Apart from stripping Terry of the captaincy this time around, and I think preventing Woodgate and Bowyer of representing the country whilst awaiting trial for racially motivated Assault/Affray/ABH/GBH (whichever it was) I can't remember them meddling at all.

It is what I heard, tho admittedly it could be sour grapes. My paisans are notorius for gossip. And another move I am expecting...Capello to become manager of Inter before the end of the season.

But to my main point I still think Redknapp is the best (and only choice) for the your national team. An Englishman needs to lead this team at this point. An Englishman is the only chance you guys have to rein in the massive, I am more important than team and country, egos there. Too many rock stars and not enough players. He needs to kick a few asses, adjust a few attitudes behind the scenes, then identify and clear out some of the deadwood. Who better to do that than Redknapp? Football is your game. You guys invented it. You really should take more pride and get better results in international tournaments. How come your players don't take more pride in, and have more passion about (outside of Gazza), the successes and failures of your national team is one of the biggest sporting mysteries to me. It would be like Canada continually getting their clocks cleaned in ice hockey and not caring that they do.

If AVB costs £13m then 'arry must be worth £10m.

The fact that Harry wants the job will mean he'll get it no matter how much Spurs offer him to stay on.........England will just offer more

The guy was only asking him about Stuart Pearce etc!! Harry said he'd not spoken to anyone. Doubt he needs to - he'll be manager at end of season!

But would the FA need to offer more?

Strange, but the last few times where the media have demanded the appointment of a particular individual into the hot seat, it went tits up. The media begged for Graham Taylor after Bobby Robson retired and they were des[erate for Keegan to get the job. We all know what happened next.

More worrying is the long term future of the role in question. Say Harry hangs around for 4 years, who would be a contender to fill his shoes? Quality English managers are in short supply.
