Royal Prince Honest question, do you think fans of other clubs look out for the matches against Reading when the fixtures are released?

I still see us as little old Reading, but the reality is that we are an ex-prem team, and twice former champions of this division in recent years, so we must be somewhat of an attractive draw by now?

No, I don't think so. I'd imagine Bournemouth, Yeovil and other local-ish teams might, but your average Middlesbrough or Burnley fan won't give a toss.

First game I looked for was Yeovil away.

To be honest, I didn't really hate Leeds until that game where they crocked Jem Karacan, when I started to dislike them for their dirty tactics. Actually, it's Warnock who encourages the dirty tactics!

Woodcote Royal For all the Grade A twats who have rubbished McDermott, losing to Leeds would be losing their cup final.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how much he'll have improved Leeds.

The Football League is riddled with once mighty giants who are a spent force. Leeds are one of the biggest, if not the biggest. But there are far more important games for most in the Championship than those involving Leeds.

We wouldn't give two shits about them if it wasn't for McDermott.

It's far more important to me that we beat QPR, Ipswich and Brighton than Leeds. Leeds mean no more to me than Forest, Watford, Bolton, Leicester, Wigan etc.

I'd say more clubs will try and up their game against us, QPR and Wigan than Leeds. And by a long way. And that's not because there's something special about us. It's because we're the relegated teams who many have down as amongst the favourites to go back up.

One8Seven1 Bigger games than Leeds that already spring to mind are:

QPR
Wigan
Brighton
Blackburn
Bolton
Watford
Forest
.

face it though, I bet the crowd for the Leeds home game will be bigger than Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton and probably Watford, unless there's anything special riding on those games.

There's no way in the world Wigan are a bigger club than Leeds. That's just nonsense. And unless we are up at the top of the table, there's no way teams/fans will be more up for a game against either us or Wigan than a Leeds match.

Leeds are still a big draw, far more than Wigan, who will regularly "attract" among the lowest crowds of the season to most grounds that they visit, as will we when we go up north. the idea that us being in the premier league for a year is going to suddenly made us a team fans want to see, and players want to try hardest against, is just as silly as the idea that prompted this thread.

Leeds are a big club for this division. They just aren't anywhere near being the manchester united of the division that that Leeds fan thinks they are. And I'd guess most fans in Leeds know that too.

Agreed.

I think a lot of people in this thread are deluding themselves. Leeds are a big club, and take fans everywhere and attract opposing fans also. They think a lot of themselves and that's why they're hated.

I for one can't wait for the Leeds home game. Partially because of the above, but mainly due to the McDermott situation/Noel Hunt, etc... and a bit of added spice.

Sometimes it's not just about what the fixture means to league position... (queue someone saying "that's all I care about"). I love football for the atmosphere, the drama, the build up AND the actual competition itself.

Significant proportion of our home attendances at Championship level is made up of away support. Leeds pretty much selling out their 4k in all of their visits to the Madejski means you are immediately looking at the 20k mark minimum, which given an average of 15k - 16k home support leaves just 4k seats to sell. Larger clubs like Leeds will be a bigger draw than Wigan and so it is not unrealistic to expect a significant proportion of those spare 4k seats to sell.

tbf all that says is that there's plenty of southern based Leeds fans who get the fuck out the shithole as soon as possible. Leeds are a big club in the same way Wednesday were 10 years ago, ie no longer big and diminishing. But unlike Wednesday their fans are massive cunts.

You could have left it there really.

The idea that people, fans or players, will be really up for a game against Wigan because they've been in the premier league for a few years is daft.
