Deathy First they're issued witha 10 point deduction for next season and are 4-1 for relegation, and now they have no kit for next season!

In a climate where so many clubs stare winding up orders in the face but get saved at the 11th hour, this club is possibly closer than any of them to going bust.

Huge shame. Hope someone comes along, keeps 'em going, and rebuilds the club.

No kit?

they had to auction it off to pay the bill they owed to the manufacturer.

That really sucks.

^On top punditry.

... was the first time I really appreciated what a seriously good all-round footballer Adi Williams was - we played Stockport - can't remember if it was Adi's first or second spell with us - possibly was a later game @ MadStad when Francis may have been on the wane.

Anywho - Adi marked and played this giant of a man out of the game - timed his challenges and leaps to win every header to absolute perfection, so much so that Francis barely got a sniff all match - in spite of using his whole repertoire to try and outdo Adi.

Image that stays with me; end of the game the two embracing like old friends - which leads me to think it was definitely at the latter end of both their careers - renewing old rivalries perhaps.

Nowt to do with the Hatters/Cobras 8) but I also remember, after a good draw at Maine Rd in the Cup, when Adi had completely blotted out Niall Q - Citeh came down to Elm Park and Quinny clattered Adi so hard in the back/ribs early on, Adi had to go off and the b&$£@rds gubbed us 0-4.

....read recently that Adi had offered his services to Swindon Supermarine and they were very keen to use him - a job for him at Kings Lynn fell through I think. Hope he manages to stay in the game somehow ....

I don't think we ever played Stockport when Adie came back to Reading. I think Stockport was in the basement division the entire time Reading was last in the third tier. So, I think it might have been the 4-3 win over Oxford that you were thinking of? Francis finished his career there, I think - I'll go to soccerbase.com to check it out...

According to this soccerbase link, he finished his career at Hednesford. He did go back to Stockport after Oxford, but this was in 2000 and I think Stockport was in the basement division at the time as well as Exeter and Hull.

Stockport County was relegated from Division 2 (then under the fancy name of Division 1) at the end of 2001/2002 so we passed each other at the end of that season. Therefore they were in the division above when we were last at the third division level.

... must be memory playing tricks on me then - don't recall it being a home game vs P@xford - can't remember being at the 4-3 - which is odd cos I've missed hardly any home games since way back - but I definitely had the feeling that 'were it not for Adi' that Francis could have done us some damage.

... just had a quick check myself and I spose its conceivable that it was our 3-1 @ the Manor in March 2000 which they both played in - though Francis actually only came on as sub in that game for the last 1/4 hr, so doubt if he would have changed the game much but he still was an impressive figure.

I am sure they had a right ding-dong together for that brief period.

... and Pie-Eater had bagged the third goal on the hour. :)
