Oh, and the ref appeared to play a minute or so more than maybe he should have at Anfield last night. Which is brilliant, as Newcastle spent the entire game spoiling and time-wasting. Could have played 20 minutes added time for all I care. Hopefully Howe will think twice about those tactics again.

Thought the ref did a great job of not falling for the surprising number of Newcastle players who were getting cramp at the end

Winston Biscuit At HT in the 5th game of the season Haaland is already 28% of the way to equaling the most goals ever scored in a 38 game PL season, and it's still August.

Yeah, he's a little silly, isn't he. A second hat-trick in just his 5th game in the Premier League, which beats Demba Ba's record of 21 games to achieve that milestone. Haaland has more goals so far this season than 15 of the other 19 clubs in the Premier League. He's only completed 90 minutes once, as well.

Going to get an unreal amount of points in FF - just going to captain him every week.

He's essentially a cheat code at the moment.

Oh sure, all teams do it to an extent, but that was a pure art by Newcastle last night, until it cost them dearly.

I can’t really comment on that specific game as I wasn’t watching it

Still think my idea from a decade ago would put a stop to it
If a team is wasting time, simply give whatever the restart is to the opposition
So, a throw goes the other way, a goal kick becomes a corner, etc.
Saves on yellow cards and would absolutely ensure time wasting was reduced (it’ll never be eradicated)

Liverpool players with a gun salute last night for the winner. Dont care if its his signature celebration, seriously, how thick are footballers sometimes. Unbelievable.

Yeah, this was a little silly. Led by Carvalho and Elliott, I'm sure management will have a word.

Did enjoy though Carvalho then pretending to go down with cramp.

Oh and Elliott was outstanding last night. He looks ridiculously comfortable on the ball.

Elliott - what an engine he has on him - and his first intention is to drive the ball forward - love that - could be a break out season and some for the lad.

In particular Joelinton who went down around 4-5 times, the last of which was in the left back position and then seconds later he was sprinting down the right-wing.
Obviously squeaky clean Saint Eddie wouldn't advocate stretching the rules as his side enjoyed just 28% of possession (about the same as Bournemouth in their 9-0 thrashing) and not a single corner-"heartache" as he said about 3-4 times in interview.

I may be a bit harsh but Newcastle's style is very much the same as that when Steve Bruce was there ,i.e. defend deep and hit on the break but now with (last night) 5 new players added.

Yes but can he do it on a cold Tuesday night at Stoke?
Of course he can.

Thinking of next weekend, can Stoke do it on a warm Sunday afternoon in Reading?
Am not sure that gets trotted out as much as the other one.

Still stick with the idea that Rodgers should have gone last season. He simply doesn’t have an alternative plan, once his sides go into a rut, they’re not breaking out of it

I get he hasn’t been dealt a great hand with transfers this summer or the fixture list but they’re so dour and uninspiring to watch, slow sloppy passes around the defence. Was ironically one big hoof at the end which brought their best chance, perhaps showing Mr Rodgers that there’s more than one way to play football

Treatment of Iheanacho is odd too, think he’s a quality striker but just doesn’t seem interested in using him, packs his teams out with midfielders instead (Pauno esque in other words)

Agree on Iheanacho, bizarre he isn't starting each week. Can only think there is more than meets the eye.

What am I missing ?
The VVD challenge is a straight red every time. It’s the very definition of a potential leg-breaker

Not for me, couple of inches higher and yes.

What a great 0-0. Pickford was excellent.

Liverpool really not firing. Too easy to just blame it on Mane’s absence.

I think that’s the worst VAR call I’ve seen yet - Bowen’s disallowed goal against Chelsea

How are they allowed to get away with this time after time - this big 6 bias is rather pathetic yet nothing is done about it

VAR has just replaced a bunch of bad decisions with a separate bunch of bad decisions. Pointless. Get rid of it

Watching Newcastle v Palace earlier.

Goal disallowed on VAR. Just pathetic. Willock gets shoved by a defender, his uncontrolled momentum after the shove takes out the keeper, ball bounces off defender, OG. Not Willock’s fault at all.

Goal given, then overturned on VAR.
