LoaferPepe the HorsemanLoafer I thought you lot were not absolute fannies about pitch invasions and rightfully defending yourselves
Something has changed. Maybe supporting Reading has made you all soft because our pitch invasions are all high fives, hugs and kisses
I suspect the fan who did it was giving him all sorts of abuse looked like he was calling him a vvanker, viera should have knocked him out
Eh? Literally everyone is saying Viera was right to react.
Are they?

NathStPaul A side issue - Why are the away changing rooms still on the other side of the ground at Everton? If both changing rooms are in the normal place, lasts nights incident doesn't happen.

YorkshireRoyal99 I wonder what it's going to take for the English game to get on top of these crowd issues where fans are flooding the pitch going after players/managers as well as the incidents as throwing objects onto the pitch as well.

To be fair it has happened for years and years,

YorkshireRoyal99 I think it's always been there, it's just more documented now and probably happens more often now than before. I've always said that netting around the pitch/front of the stands would stop objects being thrown on the pitch but I can't imagine it would stop a horde of fans getting onto the pitch if they wanted to, it would also hack fans off because of the "view" (everyone loves a moan).
Agree though about flares becoming more prominent, also seen the new ban on class A drugs at football games being up to 5 years. That's fine, but why not just have sniffer dogs on the doors with the stewards so that fans can't get in with such substances?

NathStPaul At the least I'd like to see behind closed doors games coming into play. Once a few idiots ruin the football for the majority of sensible supporters you might see a change.

Don’t think the netting is a terrible idea. They have it at NHL games because well no one wants a 6oz disc of vulcanised rubber hurtling towards their head at 100mph. Went to see one when I was in Pittsburgh and I think I noticed it for the first 5 minutes but after that it was fine and didn’t hinder my ability to follow the game.
Would also stop idiots throwing the ball around in the stand.
There would have to be some sort of safety release though.
