There are three statuses in football, whether people like it or not ...

"Old club", (completely) "New club", and "New club which is a continuation of a previous club". Things are less clear cut for the latter.

weybridgewanderer Rangers regsitration was transferred to the new company. It is the same club

You'll be telling me Airdrie and Clydebank are the same club soon. Which of course they are not.

You went BUSTO Weybridge and had to START ALL OVER AGAIN.

This isn't a new issue. Stoke, Port Vale, Accrington all went bust about a century ago but have borrowed / inherited / stolen the history of their predecessors. Middlesbrough's badge until recently showed the date of their re-formation (1986). A couple of years ago it changed to 187? something, the date of the previous club.

weybridgewanderer
how was sell out saturday? Did you make it to Pittodrie yourself?

No couldn't make it coz, funnily enough, I was following Reading,

But 14,000 for Ross County was not bad, a full house was never gonna happen (unless they were to drop the prices)
seeing as it was in essence two bottom six teams, and when the huns came last year it was only just over 15,000 anyway.
So another like that and the gate receipts will be around what they received last season. Anything else will be a bonus.

Thanks for asking! :)

Not hard to do really, of which most were press & media wanting to see a fallen giant struggle, and the new huns duly obliged.

-- pendant alert --

I'm assuming you mean the Accrington that went bust in 1896 after being founder members of the league.

Accrington Stanley had nothing at all to do with that club, and did not take its history. Accrington Stanley formed five years before Accrington FC folded, and never claimed to be founder members of the league. Accrington FC actually had two more years in the league after Accrington Stanley formed.

Obviously - that's why I wrote Accrington and Stoke not Accrington Stanley and Stoke City. I salute your pedantry nevertheless.

Shit like this is why so many clubs are in the mess they are.

West Ham should be put under an embargo for even considering such a stupid move in this current market.

Probably add Bristol City (1987?) to the list too. The olden day examples are perhaps more pointed because there were year-plus gaps before the new clubs came into being.

Hopefully, West Ham are Pompey Mk2 in the making. Yet another club that never seems to learn any lessons.

I don't understand what's changed with them. When I was a boy many moons ago, they seemed to be one of the teams that you always looked to for role models on and off the pitch. Now they appear as a bunch of tasteless chavs with some of the vilest, most self-indulgent and delusional fans.

"It (the loan move for Carroll) was a terribly expensive deal with the loan fee and with his wages, which were enormous - too much for a club like ours.

"But, as the manager really wanted him, we were prepared to pay it."

Just amazing.

Its as if what is happening in Portsmouth is in a different Universe.

No doubt the West Ham fans are voicing their diepleasure and disgust at the owner of their club admitting that - simply because their manager (who no fan likes or respects) - wants a player, they would go all out to get him and hang the consequences.

Oh, they didn't; well, when their club just bust, remember this sort of thing when you hear their fans bleating that "it isn't fair" and "its not OUR fault!"

never mind a club in financial trouble, what about an league organisation?

SPL cash flow problem means clubs still await vital broadcasting/sponsorship payment that was due at start of month. More soon #BBCSport

The #SFL are also due to be paid by #SPL but have been told they'll have to wait. #BBCSport

Wonder if the SFA will charge the SPL with bringing the game into disrepute??

Seems that - amazingly - the new owners of Rangers were lying when they said earlier this week that all Scottish Football debts had been paid.........

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19266049

No wonder they still wear the same shirts; their new owners are as big a bunch of crooks as the last lot!!!!

Been to East London/ Hornchurch/ Romford/ Ilford recently?

A club tends to reflects it's fanbase

Which makes us...?
