Have only just turned the tv on. Yahoo says it was from 40 yards so I'm guessing it was a good goal.

One for the ages, SLAMM'd

The buildup was nice too, with Sneijder the fulcrum --pass to the right, pass back to centre, pass to the left, etc

0-0 in reality though, as we know it's not possible to score goals like GvB's and Forlan's with this terrible ball.

bit of late shwaz but he should save that.

I have backed Uruguay who are a decent bet at 9/2 for me, it's very much a two horse race this game. Holland are so mediocre it's untrue.

Not sure if you're trolling or not but Forlans you could put down to the ball, gio's was just a rocketed arrow..would be the same with any ball.

Good contest. Pretty even until the contretemps, with Uruguay just about having the better of it, notwithstanding Holland's opener. Then it got a bit scrappy, but with Uruguay somewhat dominant.

I think it was De Zeeuw who spread it left. Not certain though as they look the same *no racisto*

Superb goal from Gio - you won't see a better WC semi final goal than that. Can't believe Waddle said he blamed the keeper. Err, no, awesome hit.

The swerve on Diego's shot flummoxed the Dutch keeper, but that's the third time Forlan has struck from range now. JabuLOLani. Oh, and what a player.

Surely it should be why isn't Clive ill as well?

It's really a 0-0 with a couple of good long-range strikes, isn't it? Quite a tame affair.

Mention on the Telegraph blog that "like Jim Beglin, Uruguay haven't turned up". Other than that, a complete mystery. haven't seen a football match with single person commentary since Wolstenholme in 1966.

How can a player who tries to kick the ball, and is clearly obscuring the keeper's view and affecting his decisions not be considered active for the purposes of offside?

Because Sepp Blatter says so and he's always right

Because he was level when the ball was kicked and deflected.
