Winston Smith Not cashing out on previous bets still haunts me.

Cash out

My instinct also....but then I remember earlier in the season, had 5 teams and the first 4 came in....and it was all riding on the Bournemouth/Man U game. I cashed out at £175, because there was no way Bournemouth would win.....

I could take the £235 re-invest £100 to get the £2.2k IF it all comes in....and I would still be £££ in.

I have seen a pair of earrings in an auction coming this week....and the £2.2k would just about pay for them.

Obviously I took HNA? advice and cashed out 8) Interestingly* friends in the BI depts of gaming companies were suggesting I stay IN.

Apparently I would have got about £120 had I let it ride.

Overall on the season I am about £1k up. 10/1 Not bad.

5ver each on Lincoln Red Imps to win the game tonight and qualify.

Ante post league bets

Man United to win, Newcastle to win, Grimsby to Win, FGR to win their respective leagues. Single and multiple

Wonder how much Newcastle will be to break 106?

I've been getting into sports betting big time in the last 12 months. I'm convinced you can make good money on it. Why do I think that. A couple of times I've started off with a tenner and managed to grow my betting account to around £900 the first time and then £2000 the second time before blowing it all up through total stupidity.

This time, I want to try and do it all again and eliminate the stupidity and actually withdraw the money before I lose it all.

This season I started with £100 in Bet365 and so far I'm up to £115. And I put £100 into Betfair and am currently down to £60.

I've had a mixed bag of results lately. I laid off Portland Timbers in their game against LA Galaxy to take £25 profit. But then I lost £16 when I laid off the New York Red Bulls who thrashed New York City last night. I also laid off Gremio against Sao Paolo but they won losing me a bit more.

I seem to have done well betting on Baseball on bet365. Which is why that account is up. I correctly backed the Orioles to beat the Indians which they did and the Giants to deal with the Yankees which they also did.

At the moment I'm betting on the MLS, the Brasilian Serie A and the Chinese Super League as they are the leagues open at the moment. The Iran Pro League starts today, so I may place a bet there. Then when the season starts I'll be betting on any leagues that I know anything about and can get some coverage on.

Anyone who can give me a few tips. I would appreciate.

I was watching a bit of Shandong Lunengs game against Shanghai Shenhua the other day. Luneng is the team that PElle has joined. I was going to back Shenhua at 4.5/1 but then their price dropped to 4s and I was waiting for the price to come back to 4.5 before placing my bet. Then Shenhua took the lead and I missed the opportunity to win some money. I'm going to try not to be such a greedy bast*rd next time around.

Today Tractor Sazi kick off their Iran Pro league campaign against the reining champions Esteghlal Khuzestan. Tractor are the favourites at 1.85 and the champions are priced out at 4.5. Surely backing the champions in their first game of the season at 4.5 looks a good idea.
I don't know what the story is over there. Maybe they sold their best striker or something during the off season. I will watch the first 15 minutes and then decide whether to make a bet.

Rangers are in action tonight but at 1.12 it's not worth the risk. Stranraer aint gonna win so that might be best to leave alone.

Anyone got any betting ideas for today's fixtures?

Champions Esteghlal Khuzestan have come out the blocks in the first game of the season away to Tractor Sazi so I have backed them with £10 at 4.2.

Their price dropped from 4.5 to 4.2 inplay so I have backed them.

They just nearly went 1-0 down. Luckily they survived.

And you clearly know a little bit about betting, so you realise that that in-play price came down because people are betting on them because they are champions and look a big price?

This is why you need to help me.

Anyway, some bloke called Edinho has just scored for Tractor. He must be Brazilian. My bet is losing.

So many players seem to keep going down injured. The pitches must be really hard and really bad in Iran.

My tip would be to lay off betting for a while until real football starts.

I have a few rules and I have stuck to them religiously over the last 4 years of betting and it has done me pretty good (profit is significantly more then what I have put in, enough to happily and frivolously spend it )

1. Do not ever bet on the away team- boring I know but just a thing I always have. Doesn't matter who, I'm just superstitious. I would rather back a draw.
2. Never bet on Italian football. Decided this after Sassualo beat the top few teams home and away to break very high return accas.
3. Don't spread out games across different k.o times. Another superstition but saves the nail-biting next game could f you up when you won all 3 pm games.
4. Start with a (decent amount) in the kitty at the beginning of the season, choose only 1 website (no shops) and do not put any money in the account. If you lose the money, tough shit. No betting till next time (never happened to me)
5. Have an amount and withdraw it. Keep enough in to keep betting but always withdraw. Never put your full kitty on one acca/bet. This is dumb.
6. Only bet on what you know. Sorry to be harsh but why aren't you betting at least on Scottish football if you want to bet? You need to do research. Iran/China etc is too far for me and I know nothing about the teams. You have to study the teams and form etc, home and away results(What you said about Edinho Brazilian guy.... if you don't know the teams or players or history then why waste money)
7. Don't bother with friendly games. Self explanation but they don't mean anything and teams don't care.
8. Find a few teams/bets and stick to them.i have some teams I bet on religiously and they rarely let me down. FGR for win and handicap, Stoke for draws or low scoring games, Dutch league 1 and 2 and Swedish league/ english l2 for over goal and BTTS, other teams I cannot be bothered to name. I never bet until a few weeks in to the season so you can guage what's going on. I did this with Leicester last year and kept doing them to win games, I won a lot. Same with Northampton Town, Oxford etc etc. Sometime you will lose but just be patient

My rules have done very well but number 1..... only do what you can afford. When you lose what you have put into account, ger somebody to change your password. HTH.

Very good tips. Thank you!

Last night I backed the Boston Red Sox to beat the Detroit Tigers. But they lost. But I've done well on baseball so far without knowing much about it. In terms of Scottish football and the betfred cup, I didn't back Rangers last night because I thought the price was too short and Rangers are too sh*t to be certain to win.

I think one of my problems has been over betting. I usually start off small and make very careful, thoroughly researched and considered selections and then once I'm making money and my account builds I start over betting. So I need to tackle that aspect of my stupidity. I usually do well when I bet on what I know.

Sometimes, the problem with football and Reading especially is the emotional attachments make me bet with my heart and not with my head. One of my rules should be to avoid betting on Reading FC. I back them to win and they always bl**dy lose!

I got attached to New York City because they won me a good bet against Montreal Impact and then I backed them again against the Red Bulls when I didn't really feel they would win and of course they got thrashed. It's hard to control your emotions in betting. You have to bet with a cold heart and cool head.

Right now I have a position open in favour of Australia in the cricket against Sri Lanka. They bowled out the Sri Lankans rapidly this morning. But now the Aussies are in bat, they have also lost 2 quick wickets and are in trouble. Hopefully they'll recover and set themselves up favourably for the second innings.

I also profited this morning on Robertson beating Burns in the snooker.

I'm thinking to bet on the following leagues this season:

Australian A-League
MLS
Premier League
Scottish Premier
Championship
National League South
Chinese Super League
Brazilian Serie A
Italian Serie A
La Liga
Ligue 1
Iran Pro League
MLB Baseball
AFL Aussie Rules
J League

Maybe I should narrow that down a bit.
