Really? I'd not heard that and could've sworn I'd seen them do more, but have quite possibly got that wrong.

Makes their positioning and indeed the idea of having them at all even more ridiculous.

Flounce of the tournament by Van Robben

It was a good game though, the tournament is hotting up nicely.

On reflection and just watching some footage you could well be right. They used to be goal line only but Now they are wired up though they must communicate so probably although you don't see them giving decisions they are most likely communicating them to the referee.

I'm trying to recall the recent shocking (possibly non-) decisions I've seen from them on tv but can't recall them. Obvious penalties right in front of them that more than one of these guys just didn't give when in a perfect view.

To my mind it just adds further inconsistency to decision making, which for me is worse than the odd mistake.

I remember Saha being sent off for Everton in the uefa cup by the 5th official (1st time it was used) telling the ref when the ref/play was down the other end

Well, Germans like winning against the Dutch - my neighbours are going mental. There's someone on the street letting fireworks off ffs

Would be better to have 4 officials on the touchlines rather than 2 behind the goal.

As for the Dutch, it is just a matter of time before an almighty bust up. They wouldn't be the Dutch without soome internal strife and blood letting. What this lot are is a disgrace to the beautiful football that they played in the past. All they can be remebered for is

What do we reckon, Italy/Spain double? Or are Croatia gonna get a result?

You said Croatia getting through would be good for us, but if they beat Italy then they're probably the better team.

Ah right

Well i would rather play them, than Italy/Spain - mainly cos they just use their height, something we can actually deal with

Maybe, but Lescott will know how to wind up Balotelli and get him sent off.

Although I wouldn't fancy our chances against any of those three.
