Barcelona were 10 points clear of Atletico Madrid at the start of November. On Saturday Atleti scored in injury time to beat Barca 2-1 and go top for the winter break with Real Madrid's win against Sevilla pushing Barcelona down to third.

11 wins in a row for Atalanta and they sit top. Would love to see them win the league to get Gasperini the praise he deserves

Italian SuperCup final tonight. Inter Vs AC Milan.

Only the 2nd match in charge of AC Milan for Sérgio Conceição too.

Inter go 2-0 up. AC Milan get it back to 2-2 with goals in the 52nd and 80th minutes. Tammy Abraham comes off the bench and scores an injury time winner for AC Milan!

Borrowed off Twitter, but if we renamed the Charity Shield as the 'English Super Cup', would the game take on extra significance?

Still just one league defeat for Leverkusen, means that Sir Harold Kane's first silverware remains all but certain.

In all competitions, Leverkusen have lost just 3 of their last 78 matches, dating back to the start of last season, and one of their last 49 league games.

    And, Santos.

Josh Windass a totally bizarre signing, as much as he looks a decent player. Santos famously relegated a year ago, for the first time in their history - they bounced back at the first attempt, winning Serie B despite losing ten league games. Their entire first team squad was South American.

In fact, clubs in Brazil are limited to just nine non-Brazilian players in their matchday squad, and so foreign-born players tend to be limited. Most of those will be Argentinian or Uruguayan. In Serie A last season there were just a couple of handfuls of players in the league from outside of South America - including Yannick Bolasie (Cruzeiro), Memphis Depay (Corinthians), Martin Braithwaite (Gremio) and Dimitri Payet (Vasco de Gama, now 37 years old, crikey).

If you wondered where Newcastle's once promising full-back Jamal Lewis (signed from Norwich) had gone - he is on loan at Sao Paulo, and is the only other Brit in the league.

at the weekend Andrew Ayew scored a late consolation for La Havre as they lost 5-1 to Marseille, and as he is thought of as a bit of a Marseille legend, and his dad is also a bit of a Marseille legend, he got an ovation from their fans after scoring and the crowd were all chanting his name, which is nice.

also hearing this meant that I only just learned his dad is Abedi Pele of Gazetta Football Italia (semi)fame!! :D

Can't imagine it would, as it would be the same thing. IMO, the game is bigger than it would be because it's obvious the money goes to charities/community projects.

not forgetting that the FA were forced into changing its name from Charity Shield to Community Shield because a review by The Charity Commission found that the FA were failing to meet its legal obligations by refusing to say what money from ticket sales actually went to charity

I suspect the FA was the "charity" benefitting from it.

It does seem very opaque where the money actually goes and how much goes where.

Official governing body of any description in "being opaque where its money goes (or comes from)" shock

    Italy is mental #4396

Lazio sack their official eagle handler for putting pictures of his penis operation online.

The club say they have cut all ties with him as they don't share his values.

When asked, the bloke himself said of the op ‘i have no regrets. I had the surgery to increase my sexual performance because I am very active. I need to ejaculate whenever I have free time'

Here is the man himself, enjoying his interactions with fans, back when presumably the club felt it did share his values

Another win for Pisa last night and Pippo Inzaghi has them up in 2nd place in Serie B, 7 points clear of the play offs. Last in Serie A 34 years ago

Sampdoria still a mess. 1 point outside the relegation zone in Serie B

Racing Santander were top of Segunda by a comfortable way, and the noise i heard (while following Cartagena) was always that they were a class above everyone else and would stroll their way back to la Liga.

Now won only 2 of the last 10 games and not even in the automatic spots anymore

Why don't all clubs have an official eagle handler?

They do, you just don't see them because most clubs don't have eagles.
