Gus the teenage cow
Avon Royal
Gus the teenage cow - the pity is that trap has a contract until 2012 when he'll be 75

I know Ireland are behind the rest of the world, but what year is it there at the moment?

Don't push dear Avon Royal, he's already said he 'has his own reasons' for hating Ireland, and we should leave him to stew on those.

Silver Fox
Maguire Italy have drawn 1-1 and 1-1 so far, so if they all end up on the same points a 2-2 draw (or higher) between Spain and Croatia will send Italy out no matter how many they slap past the hapless Micks.

You can tell this is true because the ITV commentator last night suggested Spain might want to run up the score against said bog trotters

This rule could be relevent in England's group too if it's draw/england tonight

Sky Sports News getting excited over police and stewards having to keep England and Sweden fans apart in match build up with "sporadic missile throwing".. They are reporting on the most minor incidents at this tournament, a grip is definitely needed

A comment on last night's Spain game.
There was a clamour for the inclusion of McLean but IIRC he gave the ball away every time he got it or was caught in possession.
Whatever team had been put out would probably have been thrashed so in the longer term (although I don't care a toss)maybe the manager saved other players from humiliation which could be to their benefit as they sat and watched how their ball retention and awareness have to be better at international level than that shown by this team and indeed by England..
Ireland have overachieved and their fans should be glad that their team got there unlike Belgium,Norway,Turkey etc who are probably better sides.
As for Shane Long it's obvious that the manager doesn't want players who can't hold the ball such as Shane and the dreadful Hunt and I was pleased for Simon Cox that after a couple of poor seasons he at least got a half against the best team in the world.

I'm trying to work out what the best result would be for us between France and Ukraine.

France win: France then on 4pts, Ukraine on 3pts
Ukraine win: Ukraine 6pts, France 1pt
Draw: Ukraine 4pts, France 2pts

??

Either way we really need to beat Sweden I suppose. Preferably by a couple of goals or more in case it comes down to GD.
