What Royalee still fails to see, is Rodgers INHERITED a team that already played his system! Reading were never going to be the team that played lovely flowing, passing football all the time. Well done to Brendan, but a Swansea team under Sousa or Martinez would have beaten us as well.

They didn't beat us under Sousa last season though, did they?

No, but they could easily have done.

Having missed the game at the Madj, I wasn't exactly over-impressed with Swansea yesterday on my second look at them this season (having watched their win at Cardiff on BBC). In fact, they looked to me very much like Reading under Rodgers - all sideways passing, precious few opportunities created and a bit one-paced - albeit with personnel better suited to that kind of game, most of whom Rodgers was fortunate enough to inherit.

That said, I would take Swansea going up over Cardiff any day of the week, so I hope that our kind donation of six points goes someway towards taking them up. Abertawe am byth!

They are but they do over-pass at times. What I do like is the way they play the ball out of defence. Ashley Williams looks very good at this level.

They play with two wingers like us but they also have Pratley breaking from midfield and scoring goals just as Sidwell did for us.
The shame is that we don't have a Sidwell or a Pratley and that is one of the reasons why Swansea IMHO have a much better chance than us of getting to the play-offs and/or getting promoted.

Royalee 3-0 up on Sky now, playing some nice stuff.

3-0 vs Doncaster away > 3-0 vs Palace @ home.

And Swansea won thanks to two pens, otherwise, they'd have only scored 1.

But Swansea are higher in the league and that's all that matters. Not whether one win is better than another.

Right now, Swansea > Reading.

However, comparing McDermott vs Rodgers it's very easy to argue that Mcd > Rodgers. McDermott inherited a team low on confidence and in a mess; look what he's done with us. He's had to do this with limited resources and the selling of his best player.

Rodgers inherited a team in great shape, playing pretty much exactly how he wanted after Martinez and Souza. He had resources and added to it through his Chelsea contacts; hey presto. Of course he has to take some credit, but he's had it easy at Swansea.

I'm still not convinced he's a good manager. He had 6 good months at Watford. Their form since suggests McKay was largely responsible for that and I believe Graham Taylor was offering ample advice too. He also had the inspired form of Tommy Smith, something Watford handled without him. He then had a tougher job at Reading and was utterly out of his depth, before taking over Swansea at the perfect time.

Then there's the man himself. Billy big bollocks, arrogant and considers himself God. He cracks under pressure, as he did with the Tim Dellor interview and some of the desperate changes to personnel in the team which characterised his time with Reading. He may take Swansea up, but I'll be amazed if he proves himself to be a top manager in the long run.

Thats too harsh RH. He has hardly spent s shed-load at Swansea has he?
When you look at the signings he made for us I'd say they were pretty good.
Matt Mills has been pretty much an ever present this season,Jobi McAnuff has played pretty much throughout the entire last 18 months. Shaun Cummings now looks like he is a decent signing. Ryan Bertrand was an excellent loaning signing. Rasiak was an ok signing. Howard's been a bit of a disappointment but all in all thats not bad. Plus he wasn't scared to give the youngsters like Siggy,Pearce and Karacan a chance.
He deserves a bit of credit.

RH, you're missing the vital difference that BMc has known and mentored the majority of these players for years - in fact he was responsible for bringing most of them to the club. That knowledge of the players and exactly how to motivate them is the sort of thing money can't buy.

Ideal I don't oxf*rd care how he's doing, neither should anyone else unless they're Swansea fans.

I care given all the rubbish you came out with about him - much rather have him in charge than the absolute durge McDermott's teams serve up 14 months on.
