Has done it for a couple of seasons something to do with his son.

Bild apparently reporting that Gomez, Muller and Podolski aren't starting tonight. Would be an odd move.

If true, I'd like it to spectacularly backfire.

Just seen they've said Klose, Schürrle and Reus to start in their places. Decent squad depth tbf.

The idea behind that would be that Klose would be a much bigger threat to the Greek defense. Schürrle and Reus had spectacularly good seasons in the Bundesliga and Podolski and Müller ... didn't really. And they've both been pretty poor in the competition so far. It's not a tactic of 'saving' players for later in the tournament or anything - it's just the realisation that Germany certainly seemed to lack a spark in the games against Denmark & Portugal. A brave move but if Özil clicks again (and he's been Germany's outstanding creative force so far), there'll be chances created for these guys ... and they are very very full of confidence and hunger. And also very talented.

Obviously they've decided this is Klose's best oportunity to pass Muller's goal record. TBH, Klose in for Gomez is hardly weakening the team a lot.

I know Podolski has an excellent record, but he's looked a real weak link for Germany so far to me. He adds very little to the team other than a surprisingly good strike rate. Muller's been alright but not spectacular.

I fully expect Germany to dick Greece tonight.

Archie's penalty Why Warsaw is hoping for an England-Germany semi

Interesting read. I'm surprised more people aren't rating Italy though.

Klose may have been in the first XI from the start had he not been recovering from injury.

Uke Greece to pull off another upset tonight?

Both the country and he team refusing to follow the script

Definately worth a small speculative punt on 1-0 Greece circa 25/1

Doesn't look good in the first two minutes for Greece.

good call from the lino there, regardless of who got the last touch, one of them was just offside and definitely active.

Looking good for Deutchland.

Go Greece, so want them to win. Hopeless dream I know but stranger things have happened.

Should have buried that. They're like a much more exciting version of Spain.

Beglin is a dreadful co-commentator. "For me, Ozil should be hitting the target."

Everyone will have thought that you helm.

Schweinsteiger very uncharacteristically sloppy in possession so far. Ozil not producing a great deal either.

That was a dreadful dive from the Greek player from Ozil touching his shoulder. Should have been given a yellow card for diving IMO. Could easily have carried on, but had virtually no one ahead of him and knew he'd lose it quickly so bought the fk.

Edit: Woop Woop Philip Lahm.

Has anything ever been more inevitable than that goal? Gr8 strike though.

Greece will score in this game though I think.

Indeed. It will be interesting now to see what the Greeks can bring to the table.
