Transfer news: Leeds set to sign Jimmy Kebe from Crystal Palace
Leeds boss Brian McDermott has lined up a deal with Crystal Palace for Jimmy Kebe, Sky Sports understands.

It appears that Leeds have won the race to land 29-year-old Kebe as a host of Championship clubs were looking to seal a loan deal for Mali international.

Kebe only joined Palace last summer from Reading, but he has started just two Premier League games since making the move.

Now Kebe is set to link up with his former Reading boss McDermott after the pair worked together for a number of years at the Madejski Stadium.

The arrival of Kebe will not deter Leeds from their chase for Hull City winger Cameron Stewart, who they are also hoping to conclude a deal for before the weekend.

A bit more than someone dropping a seat on someone's head I would suggest.

The cost of sacking McDermott and replacing him with a consummate idiot looks set to rise..................

On one hand, our experience with Messrs Little and Kitson makes me sceptical.

On the other hand, he's a Premier League quality player and definitely one of the best wingers in the Championship. We should be trying to sign him.

Leeds fan in Office "This Kebe fella, how good is he?"

Me "Definite Premiership quality if you can get him fit"

Leeds Fan "Are injuries a problem then?

Me "He hasn't played since February"

I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

As has been mentioned before 12-13 was the first time he played less than 30 games for us. The idea that he's always injured just isn't true.

He'll turn 30 in just over a week and has started twice since last February.

It's certainly a gamble from Brian but given what he's capable of, a decent enough punt.

Downward trend though and it's something that you do notice with a decent percentage of pacey players once they get into their late twenties and beyond.

2010/11 35 starts
2011/12 30 starts
2012/13 16 starts
2013/14 2 starts

Just a loan signing. Low risk for McDermott. A case of why not if he knows the guy well
