Why did he do that. Surely he could have been sent off for that?

Frustrated the ref didn't stop for the ball being on the pitch I'd guess. Ref probably didn't know what to do so just booked him.

1:22 for one of the best misses in football history, and 1:47 for one of its most astounding goals.

Shamelss plug alert...but a very talented film-editor friend of mine has started up a football video magazine called Sausage & Caviar, in which each month he travels around Europe visiting some of the more interesting professional teams in the game. No 'guy with a camera goes to the Nou Camp' here, he has a genuine passion to find the more unique clubs in the game, meeting the fans, visiting the stadiums and interviewing the journalists who can tell the story of each team. They're only 5 minutes or so long and pretty interesting. He starts with 1.FC Union Berlin, a club in Bundesliga 2 run by the fans, for the fans. They have a very unique culture that makes for a great story.

Anyway, give it a watch if you have a few minutes spare. Plug over!

Hyde FC

or "why I think I'll never truly fall out of love with football"

Bottom of their league (just below the conference regional, I think)

There's a twitter feed

Away to Welling, and

And the fans go mental. Hyde to Welling must be 300+ miles, its a midweek away game and still they go, even with no wins in almost 30 games.

PaultheRef would confirm or deny but I think goalkeepers having a certain amount of protection in the 6 yard box is written into the rules now.
