NathStPaul Don't forget, the resident fantasist said Ronaldo to City was a done deal. His sources told him.

City have had a terrible window

Overpaying for Grealish, which screwed themselves over for the Kane deal, twiddled their thumbs on that for 3 weeks and have now lost out on Ronaldo. Didn't seem to be any strategy to it all.

Yeah the Grealish deal will come back to haunt them, they simply didn't need him with the players they already had. How they don't see how good Bernado Silva is bemuses me, very odd club and manager.

Every egg they had should have been put in the striker basket, all they needed.

He's an excellent player, but with the best will in the world, £100m is far too much for a near 26 year old with 16 Premier League goals in 98 appearances

It was a luxury purchase

I know they’ll be playing him a shit tonne in wages, but that’s a steal.

Think of the worldwide income on shirt and merch sales, will go a lot of the way to paying the fee.

Shirt sales paying off transfers is a well known myth.

Clubs get their shirt money in the big multi year deal they sig with the kit manufacturer. Clubs tend to make between 10-15% of the shirt sale value, but Man Utd are also one of the few clubs that signed a deal meaning they get nothing for individual shirt sales and instead negotiated a larger overall basic deal from Adidas up front.

Shirt sales have nothing to do with paying off transfer fees.

Didn't know they had signed that type of deal. Is that just an Adidas thing?

From what I read it's not usual at all, just something Man Utd requested.

Decent signing that

Wasn’t ever quite good enough for Spurs barring one run in 2019 but he’s still a Prem level player
Spurs clearing a fair amount of deadwood, Harry Winks should be out soon, very limited player

Didn’t do too badly without one last season

Still reckon Aubameyang may end up there, just got a hunch

CR7 outscored Lukaku who went for 96mill. LEVELS.

But Juve bought him for 117m € and a hefty salary with the goal being to win the CL, but they never got past the 1/4s. Success or failure?

Based on goals scored, success. Can't pin them not winning champ league on him. Like saying Aguero, KDB etc are failures cos Citeh have never one the CL.
