Alan Pardew

Probably deserves to be in the rumours bit, but the drums are saying, he will be sacked before the season starts.

Probably the same ones that said that he was very close to being sacked at the end of last season.

this has been the talk since the march time, maybe earlier. the new owners somehow felt he should've done a better job. i thought he did a great job last season considering, and this season i think he'll take them up automatically. new owners with some money and big ideas isn't always a good thing.

The word is, the directors think he is a cock, his attitude stinks and he upsets far too many people.

Probably right, but if he delivers the results like he did last season...

IIRC Pardew had a modicum of success at Reading so I'm not sure the two are 100% comparable...

But has he really changed from when he was here?

It took time but his approach (however unpopular it may have been within the Club) seemed to work quite well here.

(Seem to remember most of us were quite miffed when he left - some of us were even vaguely encouraged when his name was mentioned as Coppell's successor.

By the accounts I've heard, AP was a lot less autocratic and a lot more willing to take advice than BR ever was....

Sure that's true, I was wondering if AP had changed since his days here, or has he always been "difficult" but benefitted from a more hands-off Chairman/Chairman's proxy here.

Let Managers manage is what I say.

The directors hate Pardew, Pardew hates the directors.

4 clubs now. He really needs to learn to pick his fights. Prob doesn't help having Wal down there too, not exactly the calming type. Been a few things in the press that have been clearly leaked by both sides and that is the crutch of the issue. Last I heard he'd been told if they werent top 2 after 10 games he was gone, things may have got worse. Les Reed has already been brought in over his head.

Should never have left Pards, never have left.

Pardew and Rodgers have nothing in common, Pardew was always very keen to learn, he just don't like being told what to do...

Is there a chance that the truth behind the BR fiasco will ever come out? Would make a great book!

From what I know, it pretty much already has done in dribs and drabs. It started coming out while he was in charge.

Wonder if Pardew ever looks back and regrets walking out on us? ISTR there was even talk of him being a future England manager whilst he was with us

There's not that much that's not common knowledge already - it's just some of the details that aren't public.
