Reading are interested in 21 yr old Icelandic centerback Elfar Freyr Helgason who is part of the Iceland u-21 side which reached the U21 European Championship this week. He is contracted to newly crowned Icelandic champions Breiðablik. He will train with greek side AEK Athens before going on trial at Reading.

Newly off to AEK. They pissed Breiðablik off big time, lured him over to Greece for a physical (from which he was supposed to go to Norway to play with Breiðablik in the Champs League qualifier against Rosenborg, according to Breiðablik higher ups anyway) but once he was there they apparently said 'If you go there's no deal for you anymore'. It stings them all the more because AEK's DoF is an ex player of theirs, as well as later Assistant manager
