worth a punt

by friday fan » 02 Aug 2011 12:45

I see both Harry Kewell and Lucas Neil are without clubs and with the Aussie national team commencing preparation now for the World Cup they both will need clubs - any thoughts on whether they would be a decent shout?

Wages on both being a huge problem. We're also flush for wingers, and Neill reportedly had a pretty crap attitude, very money orientated, a loner not a team player. Wouldn't fit in. No thanks.

Not sure we're flush with wingers, especially if we do end up using Robson-Kanu upfront more this season.

Not sure I'd go along with the two Aussies being worth a try, I can't imagine they've got the heart for it these days. A fit Lee Cook or Martin Rowlands though...

Harry Kewell >>>>>> Ibrahima Sonko. FTRISHAFCCIWAAPTIX (for that reason I'd sign him as fourth choice centreback, if wages aren't a problem that is x)

not sure i'd want either of these two even if we could afford their wages

lee cook is a decent player but always seems to be injured so not really worth a gamble

and i think rowlands is a centre midfielder, which we arent really in need of with our current squad

Reading were actually interested in Rowlands when he was at Brentford (so that'd be Sir Steve's early days with us then) can't see much point in moving for either of those names now though seeing as we are overflowing with midfielders and wingers and neither are better than what we have already, imo.

Rowlands failed to shine during a trial with us in the late 90's - I believe TB1 - didnt believe he'd be good enough..
