Rumour - Ian Hume

by Norfolk Royal » 07 Dec 2011 08:29

Preston's £6,000 a week striker Ian Hume is a target for Reading, according to Daily Mail this morning. (Dec 7th)

Peter Ridsdale, new chairman of Preston, is looking to cut costs apparently.

Good little player Ian Hume, isn't he also the chap who suffered that horrendous head injury at Barnsley 2/3 seasons ago?

I was very impressed when he came down to the Madejski with Preston last year.

His work rate was fantastic and he was very quick.

I think it's his agent trying to get him a move in January. Can't see us buying a player similar to what we already have and without a great scoring record at Championship level.

Similar to what we already have? Really? Also, you can't have enough pacey forwards that run all day like Long or Doyle do.

As for "can't see us buying someone without a great record at Championship level"... Manset? We certainly like a rags to ritches story here at good old Reading FC.

Hume would give us something we're missing. Certainly worth looking at.

Ah manset had never played at Champ level before, hume has and hasn't performed very well in the champ compared with league one. For me he is too similar to Alf and a bit like church. I still think we miss a striker to play off and hold the ball up like long.

we have a number of players on more than that. long was on 15k for a start and that was before his improved contract to keep him here that little bit longer and add in the sell on clause.

Always rated Hume right back to his Tranmere days.

Not what we need now as he is no better than what we have to pick from currently.

Would be happy with this if it came to fruition. Good workrate and knows how to strike the ball from range
