Rumour: Adam Eckersley

Dail Mail saying today we are in for the former Man Utd left back.

I suppose this marks the start of the transfer speculation - do we realy need another left back?

Know nothing about him, anyone got any opinions?

Odd though we'd be interested in a left back unless he can also play elsewhere, is about 21 and can wait in the wings or is just plainly that good.

Don't know anything about him but at the moment all three of our specialist left backs are either out of contract in the summer or leaving in January.

Reading hope to bring former Manchester United defender Adam Eckersley back to England.

The left back, 26, helped AGF Aarhus win the Danish first division title and also interests Dutch side Feyenoord.

Not sure why they attached a picture of Richard Chaplow though.

And at 26 I would imagine is not going to be satisfied with not playing therefore if he arrives he has to be 1st choice?

Probably no truth in it at all though...

Lets be honest if he's wanted by feyenoord and ends up signing for us...he'll be starting.

Lets be honest since Berty left the left back slot has been for the taking, why not sign him up and ship out Mills/Harte or BOTH

Mills can play left wing, McAnuff on the right and Kebe will be sold

According to the font of all knowledge he can play at RB as well - seems to have been a bit injury prone tho'

Ian Harte wont be here next season? Mills is a work in progress. It wouldn't hurt to act now rather than in the summer.

Isn't Mills only on a 12 month contract anyway?

I think Harte has got another few years left in him. Pace isn't part of his game, to put it mildly, so he could technically go on forever.

Hmm. To play in general, yes. To play regularly at the level we ought to be aspiring to (top end Chump / Prem), I have my doubts really.

I can see him getting a Gunnassonesque year extension for a year or two, but as a bit part player at best.

Not straight line speed no, but he's been agile enough to keep up over the first yard or too in the past. I think what we saw earlier in the season was him being more out of position and slower on the turn and in reacting to situations than last season.

He was more off the pace than before, either mentally or physically, and he was getting caught out. I don't think he's got much left in him really.
