Coppell - Director of Youth Scouting?

Yes, I believe that was what we said at the start of the season when we got relegated from the Prem.

We hardly changed things for the first season when we were promoted. The problem in our second season was the lack of motivation from some individuals in the squad. Squad unrest (Sonko, Kitson, Fae, Shorey...) and a lack of strengthening when these issues cropped up.

Its widely known that we are in the market for another forward and we will probably make a move before the start of the season. But we have done some excellent business in this window already and if the season were to kick off tomorrow i'd be happy. If things go wrong in the 1st couple of matches we still have till 1st sept to get a couple players in.

Fact - One of the things mentioned when the takeover was complete was a large-scale extension of the scouting program and upgrades to the Academy leading to it being awarded top-tier status. One way of focussing on our youth system would be to have a Youth scouting and Academy supremo.

Isn't that exactly what Eamonn Dolan does?

That's exactly what I was thinking. He seems to have done an alright job so far? A lot of the players that have come through in recent times, came through under his tutelage so how is he not good enough?

I do not think that there is anything strange about this question but, of course, other people may have even better ideas. Given some of the successes of our Youth system it would be comforting over the next few years to believe that it will only get better.

There is already someone in charge of it. Trying to improve and expand it does not involve hiring someone to oversee it, it involves hiring more coaches to work under the person currently overseeing it.
