Snowball I looked at career minutes per goal (except RVP whose stats are screwed up)

No allowances made for what level goals were scored, some are League 1, some are Champions League or World Cup

139 Robin van Persie (Prem Only)
152 Michael Owen
158 ALF
177 Fernando Torres
177 Darren Bent

216 Pog
220 Shane Long <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
249 Noel Hunt

281 Kevin Doyle <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
285 Dave Kitson <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
297 Church

316 Roberts
352 Heskey

403 HRK
463 Kebe
474 McCleary
516 Harte

786 McAnuff
811 Morrison
921 Pearce

Wow! I understand that the level of play is not allowed for,.....but I love that ALF is in such esteemed company! :D 8)

Out of interest, what is the minutes per goal stat for Jordan Rhodes?

If Alf plays 30-35 minutes a game and gets 10 goals in the Prem (1250 minutes) he'll look even better

????

Actually, that seems reasonable on one count, but ridiculously good on another as he averaged a
Championship goal every 156 minutes - so 125 in the Prem seems crazy

Yet I can see him getting 7-11 playing the last third of games (not convinced he's a 90-minute man)

Anyway, we shall see. He made the step up to the Championship 1/156 is brilliant. If he manages 1/180 in the Prem...

The Sieve is right we need to buy quality. Good old Emile is over the hill, past it, passe, time worn, elderly, worse for wear, senescent, antediluvian.

Another 6 or 7 additions should do it.

Nobody said that we should sign Heskey, just that he wasn't the awful player you made him out to be.

TheSiege Not 6 or 7 but, Three top playes will keep us in the Premfor next season - my 3 would be Rhodes, Sinclair and Kjaer.

Sorry Sleeve but those players are rubbish, where is your ambition? We need better than them to stay in the best league in the world™.

Honestly are you basing these on anything?? do you really, honestly deep down believe we are going to spend probably the same transfer fee we have spent all summer on EACH of these players because that's what it is going to cost. Why would we do so much business early on to get the new players to Portugal to then break the bank at the end of the towards the end of the window and bring in the big guns. Get fcuking realistic, there is a difference between being optimistic about supporting the club and say the same thing over and over and over again that you want these players which goes against our principles. Saying it enough times isn't going to make it happen and all its doing is ruining HNA and boring the fcuk out of people

Worse than a broken record. It's like a broken sh/t record nobody f/cking bought in the first place, playing itself, while people wish the record would just frisbee itself into a f/cking lake and drown, stupid f/cking self-playing broken peice of annoying anus.

TheSiege .... lets buy Rhodes and Sinclair!

Spot on. I'd be pulling up trees to get those two on board.

I think we all would but I can't see Sinclair. He is the type of player that is currently out of our league, let's be honest here and not view the situation through RTGs. He is currently at a year two Premier League club, why would he come to a year one club? If we can stay in the Premier League this season and next, gradually moving up the table, then I reckon the quality of players that will be interested in coming will improve, and that is not meant as a slight to those that have joined this summer, as they will probably provide the nucleus of the next step up.

To get back to subject to Heskey, played in the right role, with the right support, then Emile was very effective. Emile's problems started when teams started to look to him being an out and out goalscorer when he wasn't.

TheSiege Heskey will NOT be an RFC player. Please fire machine-guns at this thread!

Neither will Sinclair and Kjaer

TheSiege Yes, people within our budget should be considered.

Out of interest, what is our budget?

Unless I've missed something, the club hasn't said we have a budget. I believe there was some speculation from a national newspaper at the start of the Window that we had £15M, but as far as I'm concerned that's exactly what it was. Speculation.

We've been told all along that TSI would keep the club running in the same way, further reinforced by recent interviews with Anton where he has highlighted investment in the infrastructure as one of the short term priorities - I cannot see how you reconcile having a budget of £Ms to spend on players with that statement.

You want to sign Rhodes, Sinclair and Kjaer - how much do you think that little lot will cost?

Don't forget TSI are there as much to keep our current players as they are to sign new ones. We haven't lost any and have added 4 cracking players to our squad. Can't for the life of me think why anyone would be dissapointed by that.
