melonhead that isnt the point i was posing  i simply said there arent many succesful ones

but theres certainly more than 2
including smertin, zhirkov and pavlyachenko(135 games & nearly half as sub then flogged(ok he did score 50 odd goals :D )
pogrebnyak, arshavin, Bilyaletdinov,Shevchenko. a massive majority, when you assess them purely according to my own personal success criteria

Shevchenko's not Russian
Pavlyuchenko scored at a rate of 1 per 3 appearances, it was mostly Redknapp being a fucknut in that case

When I finally noticed he was playing (about 2 minutes to full time) I assumed he'd come on as a sub. Just checked the Beeb - came on on 46 minutes!? What on earth was he doing all second half?

agree on pav, hence my highlighting his better than 1 in 3 goal scoring record, and those mostly off the bench.
hes on the shit bench purely cos it suits my point

would love to have arshavin play for us, however unlikely it is that he will. just the type of attacking midfielder that we need. anyone know what his wages are? surely they are to high for us even on loan?

talented for sure, but he's too lazy for a team like ours that needs everyone on the pitch to be working at 100%

when hes only giving 50% hes still twice as good as what we have.

He's not lazy at all, that's just how he plays. Can't understand why anyone would not want him here, he is a player of real, real class

Andrey Arshavin is set to bring an end to his Arsenal career next month.

The 31-year-old Russian striker has been a peripheral figure in Arsene Wenger’s squad this season and he looks certain to sign for Reading when the transfer window opens.

Initially, he will sign on loan until the end of the season when his contract at The Emirates expires. If Reading – currently at the foot of the Premier League – survive then Arshavin will consider a move on a permanent basis.

But if they go down, then the Russia international – who joined Arsenal for €18million for Zenit
St Petersburg in 2009 – is likely to return to Russia.

Arshavin will have no problems settling in at Reading.

The majority stakeholder is Russian millionaire Anton Zingarevich and striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is also a compatriot of Arshavin.

Pogrebnyak, meanwhile, has thrown his Reading future into doubt.

Reading broke their wage structure to land the centre-forward, 29, in a €37,000-a-week deal.

With the striker having scored just twice in the Premier League, he is also fed-up of a bit-part role with the relegation-threatened Royals.

He wants talks amid fears he could slip further down the pecking order.

Would be a very interesting signing, but one that makes some sense with his contract situation and obvious links to the club.

The wages quoted makes me question the source though. As much as I disbelieve the £60k rumours I'm pretty sure Pogrebnyak is on more than £30k which, if true, wouldn't be breaking our wage structure either.

I want to believe this, but I really don't believe the part about Pogrebnyak.

EDIT: My bad,

Still - would love to see this guy here, AS LONG as it's financially possible. Can't see McDermott staying if Arshavin comes in though.

Hi all from Russia. Do you really want to see Arshavin in Reading? I think it's a bad idea and it will be a fail for Reading.

Would love to see him in a Reading shirt. Could play 4-5-1 with him in the hole, and Jem and Guthrie holding midfield. probably get the best out of pav aswell
