Cobi Sky Sports (usual LOL at their reliability) are claiming West Ham (lolz) and Cardiff City want Noel Hunt...

Pathetic journalism. The article just says that Cardiff are promoted so will need new players, Hull will probably go up so will need new players and Allardyce has previously said he wants new players.

LoyalRoyalFan I'll drive him there.

What happens if Hunt does go and next season we find ourselves 1-0 up, hanging on to a lead and we need someone to bring on to add some energy up front and chase down the channels?

Well for a start we're probably not going to exit August with just Blackman and maybe ALF and Pog available upfront.

Hunt turns down new contract says Daily Mirror this morning, with Hull, Leicester, Watford, and Cardiff, ready to offer him a deal, apparently.

Hunt's denied he has spoken to the club about any new deal. Fail for the Mirror.

Cobi
peeping bernal Nigel seems to like him, a few more performances like of late and he may get his wish to stay.

He hasn't played the last two games has he?

No subs the game before last, then on Saturday Alf, HRK and Harte came on. Blackman favoured in both games over Hunt.

i think its pretty clear what Adkins thinks of him...oh bullocks just stepped in...

The only job he could do for us is tarmac the car park.

The Yorkshire Evening Post finally getting the message that Le Fondre wont be swapping Reading for Leeds. It's far more likely they'll get Hunt or Church, and the likes of Harte and possibly Leigertwood.

I struggle to raise much more than a 'meh' on this one either way. If he stays he is a perfectly decent championship striker who will do a job in the squad, if he goes I don't feel like it will be a particularly big blow to our ambitions for next year....

If you can honestly sit there and say Noel Hunt has got a decent touch, pace, the ability to pass and finish then you are absolutely deluded.

What relevance does my opinion on McCarthy have in relation to Hunt. But on that note De Gea has made oxf*rd loads on clangers in his first season UTD and is not worth anywhere near 25m. He's behind a fair few keepers the in PL.

he hasn't got a lot of pace but he's got a decent touch, can put a good ball in from the right hand side, plus he's good in the air. A good Championship player. In the past he's been limited due to injuries.

Noel Hunt is a top, top Championship player and a great character.

Probably more suited to McDermott's style of play though.

LightwaterRoyal Noel Hunt is a top, top Championship player.

I disagree. He's a decent Championship striker (goals record is decidedly average though), but he is a grafter; and as you said, in a workmanlike side like McDermott's he is better suited to that style, though still not prolific by any means. As an out and out striker he hasn't particularly delivered at Reading, and is all to often injured for long periods.

2001 – 2003 --- Shamrock Rovers 25 (11 goals)
2001 – 2002 --- Waterford United (loan) 9 (5 goals)
2003 – 2006 --- Dunfermline Athletic 80 (8 goals)
2006 – 2008 --- Dundee United 64 (23 goals)
2008 - 2013 --- Reading 144 (33 goals)

All you need to do Is look at the players who have partnered him up top and their goal records that season.

His role isnt to score goals, he chips in with a few but I see him as a Heskey type player. Makes space for his team mates, does all the dirty work.
I disagree with you about the injuries, McCarthy has been injured a lot in his time here but we dont call him a bad player.

And in the new 4-5-1/4-3-1-1 he doesn't fit in. There are better players playing in the supporting roles. If Noel wants games then he's going to have to move on.

If you scroll up you will notie that I also said that. I was merely pointing out the fact that he is a very good striker at Championship level. Something that even TheSiege wouldnt argue with.
