Can't blame him for wanting to join a bigger club.

Don't think anyone would blame him for that but I thought he was joining Bournemouth.

That's five soft goals heading boremuffs way next season then. Think Jeff should have given me a quick call first.

Good luck Feds. Not that upset about it though TBH - a nice chunk off the wage bill.

Another poor decision (driven by an unwillingness to invest sensibly) by the Board & Hapless Hammond who are now joined by Clueless Clarke. We now have no senior goalkeepers under contract and have sacked an excellent, well proven and highly thought of (by two managers who took us to the PL) goalkeeping coach.

The one area where we didn't have any problems last season and tinkerman Clarke decides it should be his priority to destroy it. Well at least he's ensured that we now have a level playing field with weaknesses in every position. At the moment he looks set to continue the downward trend that he so effectively accelerated last season.

And to those who suggest we are going to see a massive rebuilding - that requires investment, which is not going to happen whilst Madejski continues to persuade owners that sustained success can be achieved on the cheap.

MmmMonsterMunch Good luck Feds. Not that upset about it though TBH - a nice chunk off the wage bill.

The investment in those wages last season was one of the key things that saved us from relegation. What's more, there is little prospect of those savings being reinvested in the squad.

Don't agree - will be second choice and likely be second choice back in championship 12 months like McCarthy

It is what it is. We all knew the squad would be ripped apart. The sadist in me is quite looking forward to it.

^^ (mid Sussex royal) think that Feds is used to all of that.....he's done it all before....behind USA and Mc's

Shouldn't think it'll worry the non-contracted rookie that used to sleep on Sonko's sofa too much

Although I'm not his biggest fan it does feel like a shame we've lost one of the stalwarts of the squad and one of those players seemed to have a decent connection with the club, area and fans.

For all the talk of his loyalty it does look like he's jumped ship for the money the first time he's had a choice to make, and to be second choice in a relegation fight too.

You could possibly be right Hoops

However, he has been around the club long enough to have seen what has been, to have seen what is, and to see what is to come.

He has raised his shares within the footballing community immensely in the past four or five years.

Time to wish him well and to quietly remember

Not sure what influence Madejski and Hammond currently possess in respect of this season. There will be investment but it will be on the level that is within FPP and what the club can afford. It's just disappointing that we couldn't get money for either him or Pearce (if he chooses to go) to balance the books.

We made an offer of what we could afford to Federici it wasn't enough to keep him here. Hardly surprising as he was on a decent contract at RFC that we could not afford to renew. That may well happen with other players this pre-season or during the course of next season (please God it will for HRK.) If this sort of business has to be done I'd rather it happened now (same for Hector) than in the third week of August as a panic buy by Watford or similar leaving our pre-season wrecked and causing problems finding adequate replacements.

If, and it may be a very big if, Clarke can get a decent spine in place this season (keeper, centre half, centre forward who can score goals) then we could be competitive. Again if we get a decent pre-season in instead of last years complete farce we should see something better on the pitch. Above all we need a team not the collection of inconsistent individuals we saw last season.

Feds a great goalkeeper one mistake you say you can't for give him what a sad man you are wazzock !!

I am sad Mr Dave, I'm sad that his mistake could well have stopped us getting to an FA Cup final. It's hardly one mistake either, in the last 10 seconds I thought of 4 examples of mistakes.
