The bitter taste of Burns Scottish wasters still burns in my mouth when anyone suggests bringing in someone from North of the border.

Can't really see us as an attractive prospect to any of the few up there who are any genuine good and not in the twilight of their career.

I dunno, any English champ side has got to look good when you're playing in front of 3 men and a dog in ice cold sideways rain at Greenock Morton.

Why do you say that? A lot of the Celtic squad for example are Championship standard players. A move to a club the size of Reading would be very appealing to many in the SPL I should imagine.

True, but even though the SPL is a poor league it does offer average players a chance to get into Europe, which the English Championship doesn't. So let's not be delusional a about Celtic player so, it would only be the lower end of the league that would've a realistic target.

I was just about to say the same thing Ian!! Yep, the last time we had a bullshitting Scottish manager signing shed loads of dross from Scotland, it didn't turn out well.

What with talk of SC signing Steven Reid, (a man with no coaching qualifications at all), to our coaching staff, it seems Clarke is on a mission to build his own empire at RFC. Again, we know how that sort of thing turns out don't we Mr McGhoo??

This close-season just keeps going downhill ....

I can't wait for Clarke's magnificent 7.

It reads as though Reid is being offered the chance to work with the younger players in a similar role to one he was doing whilst at West Brom.

I don't see too much wrong with bringing in a young coach who's played at the highest level and always appeared to me to have a pretty good attitude. Perhaps he's being lined up to help those U18s and U21s kick on and make that step up when they think they might've already made it.

Perhaps he's just the type of character that Clarke wants in his team to fix the issues he identified. I wouldn't get too downbeat about it without knowing too much about whats going on.

On a positive note Hector has just signed a new deal to take him through to 2018. I might think he's the most over-rated member of the squad at the moment (now that Federici has left) but that's a good move by the club all the same.

LOL at anyone at Celtic with much of a career left choosing a struggling Championship club. I'm certain it would be appealing to many in the SPL, mostly the shit ones.
