Potential team 16/17

by Tankite » 13 Jul 2016 21:39

I have followed RFC all of my life but circumstances have dictated that I was much more a hands-on fan at Elm Park than at the Mad Stad - although I have always tried to attend as many matches as I could at both venues.

I know that on this forum there are people who go to every game and also some who follow our youth teams.

If one imagines that our ranks are going to be added to by Swift, Beerens and Campi, I would be interested to hear what knowledgeable supporters would see as our first team for the coming season.

My prediction is that Ian will love this thread.

I'd never heard of Jaakkola, Mendes, Van Dan Berg, Gravenbach or Campi before we were linked with them, so have no clue if we're going to be relegated or promoted or anywhere in between, I'm just in it for the frozen digits, half time chips and group groaning.

Team board?

Tough to say as wasn't at boreham wood. Can only expect new signings are improvements. Need to get to some friendlies. But my gut feeling, in the 4-3-3 I'd go with:

Al Habsi

Gunter McShane Cooper Obita

Norwood VDB Quinn

Beerens *new striker* Swift

But happy to see any of the below in there.

Cooper |> Campi/Gravenberch

Quinn |> Williams/Kelly

Beerens |> Mcleary/Mendes/Barrett

Swift |> Fosu

Certainly have some good options. Shaping up nicely but FB cover certainly needed. Not won over by our striking options, yet. But would most likely have Kermie in there.

Everything said on other threads about Campi suggests that he would be a first-choice LCB.

I'm not really sure why I bothered with all that. At this rate, in 3 weeks time it'll be a completely different squad

Yeah, Gunter's still got to have his move to Barcelona go through after setting the world alight at the Euros. Can't think what's taking it so long to be honest.
