ACtually it was discussed on R5 yesterday. Local Southampton journo talked about Saints generally and then specifically about Austin, how he was not in the manager’s plans and he expected a move or loan probably to a Championship side. Given geography and our lack of an experienced central striker / reliable goal,scorer the connection hardly seems ridiculous (not like someone suggesting England’s all time top scorer might become a Championship player).
Events have over taken it as even a possibility though.

Charlie Austin is a fairly decent lower end Premier League striker, too good for us and too good for the Championship. Surprised Sheffield United/Norwich haven't come in for him.
