Orion1871 Andrew Peach asks Sunak if he would like to buy the club. Think I actually prefer the Chinese fella to that.

We could be about to test the "Surely they can't be worse than Dai" theory.

WestYorksRoyal Athletic article pretty bleak on this today. Dai values the club at over £70m including stadium (dream on Dai), and he's pretty much AWOL and only reachable through Kia Joorabchian. There is no obvious end in sight.

blythspartan I can’t help but think that the article in the Athletic is just a rehash of what we already knew. It’s good to keep the club’s plight in the spotlight though. The fella from the Telegraph said we are in advanced talks with one party and he’s been reliable with his news in the past.

Thought it read more he valued the club at 70 to 80m but the club would also need to own the stadium, so a separate transaction.
Either way idiocy - if he gets half that he should be happy.

I wonder what the tangible assets are worth in isolation. Bearwood is a desirable piece of land you could sell to a housing developer. The stadium is a cash generating asset if there is a team to play there (worth very little if not, but could still be a gig venue, events etc.). It could be that these are worth £25m on their own before you consider the value of the footballing operations, players etc. But £50m - £60m sounds more realistic. And also all my figures are pure guesswork.
John Percy reported one party in advanced negotiations, so perhaps Dai's expectations are not obscene. Or perhaps they're undertaking negotiations with barely any involvement from Dai.

Reading Football Club can confirm that a sum owed to HMRC and due by Friday 22nd September 2023 remains outstanding.
In exceeding the default period, the club reported this breach and has again been placed under a registration embargo with immediate effect. It will remain in place until the breach has been remedied.
On behalf of everyone at Reading Football Club, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our community, our commercial partners, sponsors and suppliers and, most importantly, our fans - for your continued support and patience during this extremely challenging period.
We also want to place on record the club’s appreciation to its staff who continue to represent the club admirably in increasingly demanding circumstances. We can confirm that the wage bill for September has been satisfied in full and in a timely fashion.
The club continues to suffer significant cashflow issues and, in striving to establish sources of stable external investment, we can confirm that there has been significant interest from a number of parties seeking involvement in the club.
Discussions and due diligence processes with a number of these potential investors continue apace. Our owner, Mr Dai, is openly inviting further credible offers of interest and declarations of intent from parties eager to pursue a potential sale of the club.
