I'm think Billy Sharp might be turning up in the next couple of weeks.

I hope not, also why would he want to come back here? Our fans cheered for ALF when the guy missed a penalty, sure he loved that.

Some pretty average/piss poor players in this team on £20k plus already.

If we do decide to grab another centre mid, what about Jacob Mellis? Free transfer

Can't see us getting another central midfield player. We're nicely stocked there (providing Jem stays/is fit.)

Central Defence, Left Back (cover), Striker(s). Left wing. That's 'all' we need to look at right now, imo....so pretty much everywhere other than central midfield! :)

we said that last season and look what happened....we lost most of our midfielders to injury and had to resort to playing wingers and a cb (hector) in central midfield, even worse hope akpan had to play there!

Would love the club to go back to what made us great leading to the 106 season, put the trust in the scouting network, build a team around youth, proven pros at championship level and gambles on players with raw talent that need nurturing,

I hope so. Cheap, affordable, proven at this level, and we need at least two strikers this summer. Anyone not wanting him here seems to think decent strikers grow on trees, or we'll have a lot of money to spend.

Rumoured to be interested in Anton Ferdinand if tw@tter is to be believed.

It's got to be nonsense with a piss poor journalist adding 1 & 1 and coming up with 3, due to the Samrit connection.

Is there any point in them making this crap up.

A striker is minimum with pog and Blackman still around as Hal can also play there, a centre half is still a must with the club still not having a senior out and out left back. A wide player should be on the list too to replace Jobi. If we filled those spaces we should have a very competitive year

The Ferdinand rumour could well be lazy journalism but it's going to be quite a while until he can play for Police United so some sort of loan deal may yet be a possibility.

"However, he'll definitely stay with us and train with the team," said the 39-year-old Samrit.

He's clearly staying that he's staying put. No chance. Lazy journalism.

Centre back should be low on the priority list and Obita more than fills the left back role. A utility defender would be ideal, able to cover across the defence. 2 strikers and a left sided winger are essential. Anything else is nice but should depend on spotting good opportunities to improve what we have rather than simply ticking boxes.

Yeah, but you're not going to have 8 central midfielders just on the back of one horrific season of bad luck in that department. By that logic we'd have a squad of massive proportions!

although Obita more than fills in at LB his favoured position is Left wing, we were very lucky last year at how well he adapted to that position

Not sure that he has the pace to be a winger and definitely not the dexterity needed for his favoured central midfield position.
Improve his tackling and positioning and he could do very well as a left-back possibly even at a higher level with the current dearth of decent full-backs.

Obita reminds me of a quote I heard about Glen Johnson:

"He's not really a defender, he's a midfielder. And he's not good enough to play in midfield".

think you would be surprised at Obita's pace...agility with the ball is another matter :P
