West Brom appointed Dan Ashworth to a similar role having seen the Reading model work. Barry Fry also does a similar role at Peterborough and I'm sure there are others.

Aside from doing all the contract negotiations, the biggest strength for me is the continuity he holds from all age groups, ensuring everything is running smoothly and constantly planning for the future. The club are slowly building a network of contacts around the globe which has seen Ethan Gage retained and the club rercruit the two Australian brothers. That is all through Hammond's hard work.

Indeed, and he's proved how shrewd he is with a number of contract negotiations, and player sales. In the past we would lose players on the cheap, not any more we don't. I'd offer Hammond a 10 year contract tomorrow without a shadow of a doubt.

brendywendy youll have to drive through me first

And me.

Hammond also provides continuity between managerial changes which gives the club greater stability than some where you lose a manager every 9 months and it's "All Change!" time.

Hammond is a fantastic DOF - possibly the best in English football and we are lucky to have him.

If the Mills deal goes through he deserves his annual salary for that alone
