And he got 10 the year before, his issue is confidence and he isn't going to get that sat on the bench 3rd choice.

church needs to go, he also needs to learn to pause for just a second beofre he times his run and he wouldn't spend most of his time offside, if he did that i think he would find himself in better goal scoring positions.

I'm dubious about him being as high up the pecking order as third choice. He looks more like 5th choice behind Hunt, Le Fondre, Robson-Kanu & Manset to me.

Much like I thought about Long up to about November last year I think he needs to move on to step up. I like him and wish he'd make it, but I don't think we're the right club for him anymore. I do think he can make it, but I don't think we play the right way to make it likely he will.

Ideal He should go to a lower level, somewhere like Exeter or Aldershot, something like that, where he can learn to just score regularly.

Problem is, he probably wouldn't be any closer to goal if he went there either! The words barn and door come to mind.

we've done that with him and he still didn't score. everyone commented here and elsewhere that his movement is second to none but he just can't finish. perhaps he's better suited to midfield, or stacking shelves.

He was quite young and he's since gone on to score 10 league goals in his debut Championship season, playing only 30 odd matches.

I think he's v. likely to score at least 15 odd goals in League One in the right team.

Trouble is, once you've given Church & ALF a couple of games together, then Church & Hunt a couple of games together, then Church & Manset a couple of games together, then Hunt & ALF a couple of games together, then Hunt & Manset a couple of games together, then ALF & Manset a couple of games together you find out that you're over a quarter of the way through the season and still don't know your best attacking combination.

Very true. Personally I think Brian has to look in training at who seems to work best with ALF, and then give that combo a good run of at least 8/9 games.

I'd go with Manset, but I'll be suprised if he doesn't go with Hunt.

Mr Angry
Barry the bird boggler If true a great move for club and player, let's hope he gets plenty of game time up there. Loan to January would also be good.

I disagree - from his point of view thats a terrible move; he would be better suited staying at RFC and fighting for his place. At this stage of his career, being loaned down to League 1 is a sign that the best of your career is behind you.

Agreed. Terrible move backwards. Hope he stays and proves all the h8r's on here wrong.

If I had to choose one of our forwards to have an impact coming off the bench it would be Manset, so there's something to be said for the Hunt/ Alf partnership I suppose. And one of these days I'm going to figure out exactly what it is that Noel Hunt does.

Church seemed a bit peeved on his Twatter last night. Questions about him going out on loan were met with how he just wants to do well here and get back in the team. Prolly not helped by being refered to as 4th choice. :?

He creates space for whoever else he is playing with. He may not always appear to be in the game, but he seems to draw defenders to him and it works until his legs give out. He's not a main striker though.
