Alan PartridgeLoyalRoyalFan But how can you support Reading and watch Oxford?
People quite often used to do this when local teams played at home on alternating Saturdays.
The whole football 'rivalry' thing is a bit sad really, hating a team or people that follow said team because they come from a different town than you, all a bit![]()
Having said all that most Oxford fans are a bunch of chavvy braindead idiots. Of the sides around here I'd find it harder to watch them surrounded by said idiots than any other side. If Oxford was a must then Oxford City FC is the only answer. (and they play in blue and white hoops)
Got to admit that Oxford get more of a rougher crowd than Reading - but that's because it's not so attractive for the prawn sandwich brigade. Atmospheres at games are generally better than at Reading matches, even though the stadium only has 3 sides.
I completely don't take all this hating other teams nonsense; I am first and foremost a 'ding fan. If they lose, my weekend is spoiled. I like it if Oxford win and would like them to play in League 1, so I can watch a more decent standard of football on my doorstep. Saying that, I'd be quite happy to go and watch other teams locally if Reading are not playing (have a ST), including the likes of Wycombe, Northampton, etc. and tend to want them to do well without really caring about it too much.
