Forty Kebe - in the EPL ....... jokes.

the bloke is lucky to get a place in our side at the moment, which is a pretty sad state of affairs for arguably our best / most talented / most likely to win us a game / most electric player.

Once we get to January, you can be fairly sure that one of the bottom 6 or 7 in the PL will be ready to gamble - if only because the impact of going down is so massive to them. How about Kebe to Wigan?

I can't see him wanting to stay in England. The whole time he's been at Reading he's just given off this 'aura' that he doesn't feel settled in this country. Whether that's down to his enigmatic nature, reluctance to talk to the media, I don't know. He just rarely looks like he's having fun.

Agreed - and I think the not talking to the media thing hasn't helped that. But maybe money will talk enough.

good to see this got a mention in Fordham's article.

If its true that the club have only offered him a one year deal, then its pretty laughable considering McAnuff got a 3 year deal

Interseting stuff in this article that answers a lot of questions, but it seems strange to me why Hammond only offered him only a 12 month contract.

I can see why Jimmy is a looking a little disinterested. It is hardly a massive commitment from the club to only offer a 1 year extension. He is worth more than that.

Hammond appears to be talking about wages, but Jimmy the length of the contract, odd. Offering him a 12 month extension is a bit of a joke, when McAnuff has been handed a 3 year contract.

Fair play on him for coming out and speaking, maybe if Hammond pulls his finger out and offers him a deal he deserves, he'll get back to his best again.

My interpretation of what has been reported in that article is that RFC are only willing to commit to paying Kebe the wage he is requesting for a period of 12 months. Anything longer (3 years) would require him to lower his wage demand.

I can only presume that McAnuff & co that have recently signed longer term don't earn as much as Kebe.

If what Kebe has said is true that changes my opinion completely.

I can only think that the club sees Jimmy as the answer to the end season 2012 "financial black hole”. As with Long the intention must have been to give a one year extension and then sell on next summer if we don't get promoted.

If he really wants to stay for another 3 years you can hardly blame him for the recent disinterest shown on the pitch if he feels let down by the club.

Now the club will have no other course than selling at a discount in Jan or letting him go on a free in the summer.

But we are of course still the best run club in the Championship!

why?

kebe wouldnt fill a back dimple right now, let alone hole

i absolutely can blame him for any disinterest to be fair- inexcusable from, a proffesional footballer

“We began talking to Jimmy in the summer when he had one year remaining on his contract.

“The offer we made to him was a significant increase for that remaining year and then a further 12 months.

"Following a number of conversations with his representatives and Jimmy himself, we were told that our offer fell considerably short of his expectations.

“We responded that Reading Football Club could not and would not pay Premier League wages whilst we remain a Championship club.

“Brian and I would love for Jimmy to stay and help us get into the Premier League where we could offer the sort of money he aspires to.

sounds like it was a significant increase in wages, for two years when offered, & kebe said it wasnt enough money, or enough time.

and tbf his current performances dont warrant anything- if he wants increased wages, and a three year contract the best way to get that would be to play brilliantly and put loads of effort in, not sulk about, and moan to the press.

With Bandini and Isaac on this one. The considered view does seem to be that we won't match his wage demands over 2 - 3 more years, but we will give him a significant increase for this season and next.

If Jimmy wants longer he gets paid less. If he wants more money than he's on now he takes a shorter contract. If he wants more money than we're offering he gets us promoted or takes a running jump.

That's how you run a club well with a view to the long term.

harsh on jim but if he is asking for stupid money can't really expect it on longer terms

in all honesty i think it's best he moves in jan for both club and himself.

Maybe Obita might get a chance now....

So farewell. Then
Jimmy Kebe
Sulky Malian with a heart the size of a pea.

Tbvh, I never liked this fella much. He has played well for about 6 months of his (nigh on) 4 year spell with the club, the rest of it has been disinterested, timid and - at times - absolutely woeful. Tbf, even that blinding spell in early 2010 was down to you receiving a rocket at your @rse from somewhere and finally running at people; your final ball has always been absolute tripe, your finishing not an awful lot better. You have been cheating the paying spectator for some time now with your half-@arsed efforts and I hope you get your wish to return to Ligue 2 in France.

That's how we dealt with Hunt, Doyle and Long. They had a 12 month extension on better terms with the promise of going if the right offer came in. Sounds like that doesn't sit well with the inconsistant one and he'd prefer a move in January. Take care then.
