We'll probably just let him leave then, after all we're lickle ol' Reading and seeing our players at Premiership clubs is as important as being there ourselves

a month ago i'd have been concerned a good player was about to be lost to a potential big summer bid, but with the new owners coming in means we no longer have to sell if we don't want to, so west ham and norwich can get knotted.

Frankly, if someone hasn't managed to snap McCarthy off of us, I don't see why we should be worrying about losing Hector unless we want to.

i agree, especially when this is a very exciting time to be involved with the club.

He gained good experience in our reserve team and out on loan at Havant & Waterlooville and Bracknell Town, then signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2010, handed the squad number 35. Soon afterwards he joined Oxford City on loan.

the os doesn't confirm length of contract, but he signed pro terms in 2010.

They're not linked with me. I'm happy to play RW for £500 a week

No chance you're not a striker.

I thought he played pretty well for about an hour but seemed to run out of steam. Presumably he hasn't played too much at right back and the extra legwork required was a bit much for him at this stage.

Can't judge on one game of course but my gut instinct at the moment is he's not quick enough to play right back and doesn't look strong enough to be a top centre half. Time will tell.

As an aside Barnet barely got the ball to Obita for the half hour or so he was on but when he did get it he did look a genuine threat. He does look a bit like a boy playing a man's game though, not that it should necessarily be an issue.

Agreed, but he did whip in some excellent crosses, almost from wherever he received the ball.

Watched the majority of the game last night and thought he struggled. But he was out of position at RB and this was a tough test for him at Swindon.

Obita on the other hand looked ok despite little service, glimpses of pace and a final ball there. Its a shame that Barnet couldn't get the ball to him more as if they had he could have created a decent chance for them.

To be fair, if he's any good (in the clubs eyes) he'd probably have already been on a longer deal than he is.

He might be impressing at Barnet (in their fans eyes) but remember the standard he's playing at is way below that which we're aiming at. At his age and development I'd expect a really good prospect (which are the ones we should probably be keeping) to be standing out at that level and dominanting a bit more than he seems to have done.

I trust the clubs judgement on this one, as we can't just keep all the kids on the books on the off chance they'll make it. If he's good enough to be knocking on our first team squads door then Hammond will be well on the case. If not then we'll probably let him go.

in which case wouldnt be as hasty as hoop- for a cb who is yet to bulk out, i wouldnt be expecting Hector to tear up any league- imo its a specialist position and is all about experience
and as it is he has impressed hugely down there- many fans seem to think hes been their best player, so...
