Well this agent said Brian tried to sign him six years ago when he went to West Brom. I am presuming he msut mean when Brian was a scout as surely SSC was in charge then? Anyone remember us being in for him then?

He was definitely talked about on here as a potential signing prior to his move to West Brom. Can't remember whether the rumour was from a semi official club source or though.

Brian has always liked him, we would have signed him when he went to Hull if we could have afforded his wages at the time. Now we have money it is no surprise that we're rumoured to be in for him again.

Also, he spent a lot of time with our squad during their pre-season in Slovenia, more out of coincidence than anything else but Brian knows a lot about him as a result.

Are you his agent?!

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7821534/Koren-would-consider-Royals-

The agent of Hull City's Robert Koren says the midfielder would seriously consider a move to Premier League new-boys Reading should they make an approach, claiming Brian McDermott is a long-time admirer of the player.

The 31-year-old, who netted 10 goals for the Tigers last season and was named the fans' player of the year, has already attracted interest from Leicester this summer, with Hull's owners thought to have rejected an offer.

Koren's agent, Zoran Krneta, claims Reading boss McDermott is also chasing the Slovenian as he looks to strengthen his squad following their promotion to the top flight, having unsuccessfully tried to sign him six years ago when he joined West Brom from Norwegian club Lillestrom.

But Krneta says the midfielder will return to pre-season with Hull and meet new manager Steve Brucebefore making a decision on his future.

"I cannot tell you anything right now as it is early days, but there has been a long-term admiration by Brian McDermott for Robert," the agent told the Hull Daily Mail.

"He tried six years ago to buy Robert, but he joined West Brom.

"Robert is a player Brian knows very well, but the circumstances were different back then.

"I believe there is no player in the Championship who would not be attracted to the Premier League.

"Obviously, if there was an offer from Reading then that would be something Robert would think over seriously.

"But Hull have just appointed a new manager and I am sure Robert will want to come back from his holiday and see what happens."

Pretty much the same being reported in Leicester.

http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/H ... story.html

'Reading have also expressed an interest in signing Koren, but have yet to make any offer.

That means re-joining Pearson at City may prove tempting to Koren.

But the lure of Premier League football at Reading, and the fact that Hull will be reluctant to sell any players to their former manager Pearson, may make the Royals favourites to sign him.'

Robert Koren - Heard anything?

by CityTilIDie » 23 Jul 2012 19:54

Well was just reading http://www.football-lad.com/koren-relea ... -on-alert/ , this article and well i already knew that Robert Koren had a release clause, however was just wondering if you had heard anything about him joining you from your end? Obviously you don't know that website from anything, however they predicted numerous rumours about Hull City in January so it has a good source at Hull clearly, so just wondered if you saw anything in this link? Or has Brian Mcdermott rubbished it?

Thanks
Hull fan in peace.

Basically no-one down here knows either. However at this point it looks unlikely as I'm sure we'd have concluded a deal by now, if we wanted him, in order to get him "bonded" with the rest of the squad out in Portugal this week

So I'd say this isn't going to happen (until such time that it does in which case I'll say that I told you so).

TheSiege I like Koren and would love to have had him earlier in his career. I would also like CAM. However, given our current circumstances, I believe that we need to look much higher up the skill tree and maybe younger - if that can be afforded!

Have to say you can't go much wrong with Koren, he was by far the best in his position in the division last year, he should never have been released by West Brom, however it looks unlikely now, but the rumour doesn't go away, i hope it does!

Good though he may be, we run up against the same problems we've discussed before with midfielders, and that's who would you drop? Guthrie's clearly been brought in on the promise of a lot of games, and I can't see us dropping both of our Championship winning pair. If he'd come in when Harper left, I recon he'd be a Reading hero by now, unfortunately, i think this boat may have sailed.
