Carrico is/was clearly a top player, the problem for us was he wasn't fit for a single minute of his 6 months at the club.

I think he was in a contract dispute with Sporting and effectively on strike at the time so they and he were probably more than willing to take the first offer that came along, safe in the knowledge that he was good enough to jump ship ASAP if it went tits up.

I quite like Portugese defenders, it's that blend of Latin technical ability and Western European outright thuggery.

And he still managed to look much better than anything we had in the 2 small appearances he did make.
