So a question for the more fiscally minded people.

We are in debt about 100mill isn’t it ? But that money is owed to dai, yes?

If a prospective buyer were interested, they would have to buy that debt from dai, yes? Assuming that dai want his money back that is, I imagine he will. Obviously.

So it will be the debt + the value of the club what ever that may be.

What dangers could there be with this? Could the potential new owner structure the debt in a way that could be worse for the club.

How does all this work?

The debt owed to Dai won't effect the value of the club. If Dai thinks the club is worth £30m, for example, a new buyer could then buy the club for £30m, but they'd also be buying the debt as well. If someone wants to then wants to clear the debts owed to Dai, that would be a separate transaction.

Unless Dai made it a requirement to buy the club and clear the debt, which is very unlikely. But in that case we'd probably find no buyer. It would probably be a case where we'd look to pay off the debt owed to the club over a number of years, but we'd probably wrack up further debts doing this whilst we are where we are.

The danger is we could be worse off, but that's the same for any change of ownership. We could end up with state-owned funds like Newcastle and Man City (we likely won't) or we could end up like Wigan, or anything in between.

Assuming the debt against the football club is £200M and this does not include the ground or the Academy set up (which Dai owns) what is the actual value of the club - which basically just includes the naming rights and the players. I reckon without the infrastructure it is hard to see anyone paying more than say £50M. Even with the ground and Academy set up included, it is hard to see the whole lot is worth more than say £100M and that would be a stretch. So it seems to me that if Mr Dai wants to sell the lot he will most likely have to write off a good deal of debt to bring it down to a manageable level.

His best option financially would probably be to carry on funding the club and let Bowen et al get us back to the PL is say 5 years and then sell. But a/ is he still interested and b/ does he have enough money?

The over-riding problem is that every dodgy owner, foreign or otherwise, damages any football club that little bit more when they have it - whether that's by adding on debt, stripping assets or whatever.

That means with each owner the club becomes less valuable and slightly less attractive to sensible buyers - with the end result that the next owner is likely to be slightly more dodgy than the last one since on-one with any sense will buy a club that damaged.

And so the cycle continues in a downward spiral to oblivion...

No, most people would only care if the team is losing. Look at Newcastle at the mo, their fans are loving life and I doubt 99% care less where the money us coming from as they are winning games and have better players than ever before.

Morals are largely absent from every single walk of life, you only have to look at most politicians of your country to see that let alone businesses and society in general. No one is going to give a shiny one so long as any prospective new owners pass the league's owners test. Sure you'll get one or two pointing so and so might have made money from iffy things in the past but, as stated above, like with Newcastle's owners, if the team was winning games people would still be going and everything would carry on as it is.

Dai not desperate to sell but is willing to listen to proposals.

May be being forced to liquidate his investment. China Dili Group's shares remain suspended. Last update 3 weeks ago was that the results of a forensic investigation (by Grant Thornton) are still awaited. Whatever has occurred is serious and Dai is heavily involved. Being China, silence is often imposed on individuals.
