Dean Whitehead
Joe Cole
Mike Williamson
Robert Koren
Lucas Piazon (loan)
Hugo Viana
Obafemi Martins
Obasi
Kolo Toure (loan)
Lee (Bolton)
Kevin Davies

Any of these will give us something that we are currently lacking be it a striker who can partner Pog or someone who can successfully play a 5 yard pass on the reg.

bracksroyal10 Dean Whitehead (Maybe but only suspensions have stopped him playing more for Stoke this season.)
Joe Cole (Wages. Doubt the player would want to join Reading.)
Mike Williamson (Maybe but still a valuable player for Newcastle.)
Robert Koren (May be a chance but we didn't persue it in the Summer.)
Lucas Piazon (loan) (lol, good one.)
Hugo Viana (Hardly set the world alight the last time he was in the PL)
Obafemi Martins (Why would he leave a club who are in 6th place in La Liga and the last 32 of the Europa League for another PL dog fight?)
Obasi (Possible but even if he was on our radar would he want to come to Reading? Could still an ACN possibility for Nigeria.)
Kolo Toure (loan) (Wages would be massive even with a loan deal, ACN in January and doubt the player would want to come here.)
Lee (Bolton) (Good player but do we really need yet another winger?)
Kevin Davies (God no. Too similar to Roberts. Doubt he'd leave Bolton since next year will be his 10th year there and I doubt he'd uproot his family South now.)

Any of these will give us something that we are currently lacking be it a striker who can partner Pog or someone who can successfully play a 5 yard pass on the reg.

Fringe PL players of clubs who will be useful for us:

by bracksroyal10 » 28 Nov 2012 16:24

Changes need to be made in January around 3 to be precise.

If we go through each of the 19 other teams, are there any players who realistically would want to come to use whether it be on loan or a perm that we could sign within our budget and finally would be useful to our team?

I think its vital we bring in players that we know can consistently perform.

Arsenal:

Aston Villa:

Chelsea:

Everton:

Fulham:

Liverpool:

Manchester City:

Manchester United:

Newcastle United:

Norwich City:

Queens Park Rangers:

Southampton:

Stoke City:

Sunderland:

Swansea City:

Tottenham Hotspur:

West Bromwich Albion:

West Ham United:

Wigan Athletic:

Arsenal - Thomas Eisfeld

Was MOTM when he replaced Frimpong against us in the cup. Looked very creative, good on the ball. Great passer. Love to see him on loan!

Arsenal: Arshavin (Russian connection only), Chamakh

Aston Villa: Dunne, Given (depending on situation at Villa), Hutton (out of favor)

Chelsea: no one unless it was a loan

Everton: Barkley (loan though depends on injuries/suspensions), Velios

Fulham: Sidwell (club connection) Frei (loan)

Liverpool: J Cole

Manchester City: Nimely, Guidetti (both loans)

Manchester United: Powell

Newcastle United: no one as they are thin on the ground in terms of size as it is and Xisco provides nothing

Norwich City: no one of interest who realistically could join

Queens Park Rangers: Mackie? (depending on Redknapp's transfer activity)

Southampton: no one

Stoke City: Dean Whitehead, Sidibe if he finds his form again? bit of a unit

Sunderland: None

Swansea City: Danny Graham, Luke Moore, Leroy Lita

Tottenham Hotspur: Jenas, Townsend (Loan), Gomes, Iago Falque (loan)

West Bromwich Albion: Fortune (clutching at straws)

West Ham United: No one

Wigan Athletic: Boyce

royalstu I can see Pog handing in his transfer request in the next month, he gets zero distrubition and will probably return to Fulham!

We can only hope

you watch him thrive when he moves to a team that play to his strengths , then you will wish he was still here.

Quite. And to add insult to injury, he'll probably pop up to score the goals that send us down.

I reckon McDermott must have had a lobotomy over the summer, spending big money on the Pog and Guthrie (signing on fees, wages etc.) and then not playing to their strengths (or not playing them at all!).

What about having a list of players wishing to leave in January? (Not sure how things work, but if leaving a sinking ship it might be better to do it in January rather than in the summer.)

Indeed. And to some degree we were trying to play to Guthrie's strengths (or at least make him a focal point of our system) earlier in the season without particularly great success.

Also people now seem to be taking as gospel that Guthrie wasn't actually carrying an injury but has been ostracised for a month when that's nothing more than speculation.

Agree completely. The HNA? "narrative" has veered well away from the reality, as usual.
